Got a 19a general deer tag and wolf tag. Stayed in the area of Riggins last year. No hunting just visiting.
This 100%I think the act of acquiring tags is being driven more and more by conspicuous consumption.
Getting the tag is viewed as the value more than the actual tag itself.
100%. The few marketing gurus in the Idaho legislature would never change this NR pandemonium process. It creates false demand.I think the act of acquiring tags is being driven more and more by conspicuous consumption.

No, Rokslide, Instagram, Youtube, Facebook, GoHunt, Huntin Fool, etc. are responsible for that.100%. The few marketing gurus in the Idaho legislature would never change this NR pandemonium process. It creates false demand.
18 elk tags already sold out and only 2,000 people are through the online system so far.
This. I've got Mountain Whitetail tags on my list in Idaho, which would require me to fly across the country from Dulles to Lewiston, right over...Mountain Whitetails in Virginia...100%. He talked to people and they were mostly buying for other people. I’m sure with a fair chargeA lot more fair than what I did. I opened up 20 browser sessions and got #209 as my lowest.
Its less the States and more the industry around hunting. States dont care, these tags will sell out no matter how the states choose to distribute the tags.100%. The few marketing gurus in the Idaho legislature would never change this NR pandemonium process. It creates false demand.
Just talked to my buddy who is DAV about this. It doesn't add up.First 300 out of the queue and 300 DAV elk tags were gone. Hmm
DittoHad a tag in my cart (Elk City A) and thought long and hard about it, but think I'm going to cash in some points elsewhere next year.
The math aint mathinJust talked to my buddy who is DAV about this. It doesn't add up.
Not all tags are listed online, I believe some tags (50%) are reserved for in person sales. The math aint mathin
I believe that system may only been the case for Sawtooth resident tags- half in-person at 10, the other half online at 1.Not all tags are listed online, I believe some tags (50%) are reserved for in person sales.
So of those 300, X amount were sold in person. Its been a minute since I looked at this but it is how it was in years past.
Was planning on doing the same thing, but couldn't justify the cost of airfare, hotel and rental care this close to Christmas. I know a guy that flew in from MO, got two Elk A tags, was out the door in 5 minutes.Guy in front of my buddy flew in from MA just to buy an elk tag, was flying home at 2pm. No family to see, nothing like that. Airfare and hotel just to buy a NR tag. Two guys behind him flew in from Kansas, same deal. They all got the tags they wanted. Just, wow. Talk about expensive hunts.
