Just got home Friday Night/Morning at 4 AM from the long drive back from Idaho to CA. Spent a total of 14 days solo of 16 available and took this Shiras bull on day 12. He measures out at 36" wide.
Out of the 3 days I spent scouting the unit and the 14 I was in it hunting he is the one and only Moose I saw! I saw Elk, Deer, Bear and shot a few Spruce Grouse for dinner and woke up to Wolves howling several mornings within a mile of my camp but could never pinpoint them exactly before they stopped howling. The plan was to get it done with the bow but after seeing the lack of sign and moose sightings I decided to leave the bow in the truck to ensure I would get a shot if I saw a moose. An absolute ton of planning went into this hunt from drawing the tag to being prepared to handle 450lbs of meat back to CA that this makes for one of my most memorable hunts to date.
