I drew region G with 0 points and don't know anything

Hi this is my first post but I've kinda been lurking for a bit. I ended up drawing region G with no points, (woo-hoo) but it was probably the one hunt I put in for this year that I had genuinely no clue how to hunt. I mean I got the who (me and my dad and probably my friend) and what (mule deer), but the where isn't exactly pin pointed down yet. But most importantly the when is an issue, cause I have school and it would be hard to miss that and my dad to get off work. What's even worse is my dad drew utah elk since we live here and him being able to come with would be hard since he'll get work off for his hunt. So since I've used up all my luck this year, it might end up being just me in region G hunting, and I've never hunted alone before, and have only been backpacking once, so I have some stuff. Thoughts, condolences, and well-wishes are welcome. What in the heck should I even do? I have a bow if that is a viable option, and a .243
How old are you? Apologies if you already said in here somewhere. And where do you live in Utah?
Advice for a 16 yo from St. George is going to be different than it would be for an 18 yo from Logan.

Is it possible to draw g with zero points?
Not into the points scam /creep thing
So I'm generally curious as we only hunt general tags/or states with otc deer & or elk other then Colorado and we get land owner vouchers for our deer hunt there and do otc for elk
Never done the pp game so I truly don't know how it works
There were 51 regular and 34 special Region G tags available in the random portion of the draw. To get a Region G tag as a non resident, the same tag every WY resident can pick up at WalMart, on a preference point tag, took 99% of the people 9 points and above.

To the original poster…good luck kid! Don’t turn the tag in and get out there and poke around before the season. You will look back fondly on this when your hair is gray and you have not drawn the tag again.

243 will kill a mule deer fine. 95g Nosler Ballistic Tip is one of the best bullets ever made.

And, I love that user name you picked. That’s confidence.

Sent you a PM. Hunted it pretty much blind as my first western trip and had a great hunt. Would love to go back!

Thanks lol, I actually chose it cause you always see dudes with super cringy names (or at least I feel like I do) like "ElkSlayer98" or something, and I figured the best way to flex hunting skill on the internet is what I ended up choosing

So an average of 9 points and he as a first time non resident applicant drew a high demand tag first try with 0 POINTS ...🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔😂😂
Hmmm yeah ok

The preference tag for the elk unit I applied for in Utah this year went with 24 points. The dude that drew the random tag in the same unit had 3. Random is random. And thank god for random because my Utah mountain goat tag was 1:3414

Region G had 51 tags for the non resident random draw (not special), and 1616 first choice applicants. That puts the odds of getting a tag at 0.031%

Why are you posting in this thread? You clearly know nothing of the WY system. You keep telling him to return the tag, that's not an option in WY. You don't know how the draw works. Got any pertinent info on region G?
