It worked really well. They sprayed 3” so it’s suppose to be moisture proof. It really dampened the floor and it sealed everything up so I’m not worried about bugs and rodents getting in.

What does that cost to have done I’m thinking about doing it next year I also wanna flip my axle for some extra clearance

How’d the spray foam work for the floor? The floor insulation is the next big project, just not sure the best way yet

Just get the radiant barrier foam and cut it into place. Measure the thickness of your space as the foam comes in different thicknesses. Get as thick as will fit. I’ve insulated horse trailers and stock trailers this way for years. Works really well.

Bought a used Coleman pop up, small (invisible to pull) with my V6 Toyota or my V6 S10.
2 beds on either side, stove, sink, dinning table and storage. a propane Doctor heat keeps it toasty and a portapotty folding chair finishes the deal.
Hard to find but the 1000.00 dollars was 100% worth it.
Safe warm and secure
In fact tomorrow I will be out for 4 days sighting in my Hog gun for my 10 days of Hog heaven hunting 21st to the 31st.
it is a 6 X 10 closed and 6 X 18 extended ( Opened ).
I has a 10 gallon water tank for the sink and a hose bib for a shower. Small, utra light, spacious for one and comfortable for two.

Our first camper was a nice popup. Lots of great memories in it but the last time I put it down in a snow storm is when I sold it. Have had an old camper from the 1980s that is 19 feet long ever since and have gotten my money out of it a long time ago. The only thing that I have not liked about it is the constant battle with the roof. Not enough of a PITA to regret buying it, but very couple years or three I seal it with the latest and greatest and then it is good to go. I keep it well covered and tarped during the winter as well. A utility trailer all modded out really looks and sounds sweet once it is all set up. It seems like it would be low maintenance once it is a completed project compared to a camper and serves a dual purpose.

I'm in the process of building one. Started with a brand new 8.5x20' enclosed trailer with 7.5' ceiling. Stripped it to the frame, spray foamed the roof and the under carriage. Used ridged foam board insulation for the sides because I was concerned that the heat from the spray foam would warp the sides. I sealed the roof with a silicone sealant and installed 1500 watts solar on top. I have a full Victron inverter setup so it's seamless going from shore power to solar. I have 2 bunks in the v nose up front and plan to put a queen bed on a platform in the back. (platform will be able to be lowered from the roof down to sleep. I'll be able to store it against the roof when not in use so that I have room to park an atv dirtbikes kayaks etc underneath for transportation) I have a bathroom with a composting toilet and shower, kitchen with propane stove and a propane water heater. I have a 42 gallon freshwater tank and I have room to add another one if needed down the road. No onboard black water tank because I felt a portable one was a much simpler solution. I put in 2 windows and have plans to put in 2 more small ones. I have a mini split that needs to be installed to provide heating and cooling. I put a ton of work into it this spring and summer but my fall has been so full. Still need to do a lot of finishing touches and the little details that take up all the time. The plan is to be able to completely off grid for weeks at a time.

So far I'm in it for around 12k and I probably won't be spending too much more since I have most of the supplies I need to finish it. I bought lots of stuff used or new stuff for dirt cheap on eBay. Also got a hell of a deal on the trailer so that helped. The reason for going this route was that the price of travel trailers are absolutely ridiculous right now. Going this route let me choose my layout, absolutely make sure that everything was sealed off properly and done right. I shouldn't ever have to reseal the roof or worry about the trailer rotting away.
Build two. Sell me one!

My dad has a 8.5x20 ATC aluminum cargo trailer I have thought about trying to buy it from him, or buy a new one, and do something similar.

Post pics when you get it finished please.

I have a 30 gallon water drum under a counter top in the front of mine. I use a 12v water pump to send water to a sink for cleaning dishes and what not and also outside to a water hose connection that i also connect a portable water heater into. Those hot showers are really nice.

You can find the water heaters on eBay for less then $100 and are well worth the money. I’m never really camped around other people so I’ve never had issues showering outside.

Alone I can make almost a week on the 30 gal’s.

So I recently began thinking about building/buying some sort of enclosed trailer to travel and hunt out of. Something that'll serve as a typical enclosed trailer but also gives me a dry and comfortable place to lay my head without screwing with a tent. Anyone build anything remotely close or came up with anything similar? A small pop-up camper may be the ticket but thats just too easy for my stubborn self Lmao
I have an Intech Flyer Explore. I makes a great hunting trailer with a Propex heater installed. Doubles as a toyhauler and doesn't weigh much, 2500lbs. Tows easily with my Tacoma. I am selling her is anyone here is interested.

I had a slide in camper for a full size bed truck.....it worked out really well for me. I out a hitch haul mount on the front of that truck for extra storage and locked the genny down on the dropped tailgate.

I love my tent trailer. Its light, cost was low, sets up fast, keeps the weather out, has heat. I think they are under rated

I shopped and got a pickup slide in camper for $500. That way I could tow a horse trailer with stock. The older camper (70s) has a propane heater that does not require electricity for the heater to run as well as a propane refridge. ( a portable kitchen with a bed). Be careful some of these won't fit the taper of the newer pickups.

For those that are interested, I finally took some pictures. Just got the mini split put in so just in time to beat this heat. Still have a long way to go to finish it. Planning to put a full length countertop on the passenger side to match the drivers side. It’ll just be a sitting bar and will go over the top of the refrigerator and the cabinet. Still need to put in flooring, then it’ll get white shiplap over everything and then trim work.

On a side note, so far my 1500 watts of solar panels and 500ah battery bank have no problem running the mini split and fridge.

What's the benefit of going this route, rather than finding a used travel trailer?

We have a travel trailer.

I'm still half looking for a cheap 6x12 to use for some camping.

Small, tough, simple and versatile.

We are looking hard at one of these. Pricey, but overbuilt. We can hail our UTV and then sleep in it. Comes with a heater, air cond., vents, internal and external LED lights, higher suspension for off road, a generator box. Is wired for 50 amp and has a battery. Has 110 outlets for campgrounds and a Camper side door, plus roof rack and ladder. Weighs 4500 lbs empty!
Metal 2x4 tubing, 16" OC in walls and ceiling. Insulated.
The two tracks and roads where we go is very hard on a wood framed camper.

Just buy a standard cargo hauler. 8 ft long, put some fold up cots on the side, drive your atv in.. Not too hard to figure out. The hard part is probably finding something that will handle the haul in on some rougher forest service roads.

Got this to go anywhere with or without the fam. Even if you didn't get this, you could get some good ideas from it for a build or truck mod.

Off grid trailer. I added the tent, 270 degree awning, furnace.
