Hunting Travel Trailer

So I recently began thinking about building/buying some sort of enclosed trailer to travel and hunt out of. Something that'll serve as a typical enclosed trailer but also gives me a dry and comfortable place to lay my head without screwing with a tent. Anyone build anything remotely close or came up with anything similar? A small pop-up camper may be the ticket but thats just too easy for my stubborn self Lmao

Bought a 7x14 enclosed that was 6 months old and already equipped with a shelf in the front "V", a breaker box, LED lights and 110 outlets throughout. Bought a power inverter (6k watt from Harbor Freight) with two marine batteries, an inverter generator (2300 watt WEN), a microwave, and a wall mount buddy heater. Took it out to CO for elk. Had issues with the regulator on the heater, so I bought a cheap electric heater with a built-in fan, which heated it nicely. There were three of us using it as basecamp when not camping out of our packs. We slept on cots, which was pretty nice. The ceiling was not insulated so condensation was terrible when there was snow on the roof, causing us to get dripped on prior to hanging a tarp. I plan on insulating the ceiling (may spray foam it), installing etrack with some foldable bunks, and also a 13,500 BTU AC system. I plan on using this in the future for hunting, salmon runs, and camping when I ride my dirtbikes/RZR.

I was going to have this built, but then the price went up 37% due to labor and materials cost. $25k seemed like too much for what it is. Was going to have a dickinson newport p9000 furnace vented furnace in it. Was going to be a palace. I'm still sad about it.

I may sell my camper in the next few years and build out a 18-20' enclosed trailer instead.

I used my enclosed trailer this year at a base camp for the first time ever. Threw some carpet on the floor and slept in there with a buddy of mine. Works fine but…

You’re going to want to fully insulate it and water proof it. You’ll also want some windows for fresh air. I’d reccomend the RV style window fans one to suck air in and one to suck out. I’d also hook up a battery/charger and solar system to run everything. You’ll want to revamp the back door with an inside latch release so you can’t get locked in. I’d build shelving to store supplies as it all became a mess in the trailer.

For me personally I won’t hunt like this enough to do all that stuff. Def has the potential to be an awesome little hunting trailer if you hunt that way.

My groups rig. Picked it up a couple years ago for $2500! Fully insulated, fold down cots, stove and heater run off propane. Lights are ran by 2 car batteries, also can plug in to a generator for the electric heater and fridge. Beats the hell out of setting up a wall tent.

I put a simple one together this year and I thought it worked exceptionally well. I bought a single axel 6x12x6.5 high with a v nose. I have no intentions of hauling a wheeler or sxs but plenty of room to fit 3 dirt bikes for riding trips.

Walls had sheeting on them already so I only insulated the ceiling and sheeted it. Welded up a triple bunk bed with build in shelves and threw that in there. Wired up a male plug through the outside wall so I can plug a generator into it to run all the 110 outlets as well as a light and a battery charger for my heater. For a heater I got a Chinese diesel heater and so far am incredibly impressed with its output and efficiency. Also threw some jacks on each corner. It’s very basic compared to a camper but pure luxury compared to a tent.

Much smaller, lighter and easier to tow, maneuver and park than a camper.

Keep an eye on FB and Craigslist, I see trailers all the time where others have done a lot of the work (insulated, wires, AC, etc) that just need some finishing touches.

I almost bought a few different units that had bathrooms and kitchens setup, but the timing just wasn’t right. I’m hopefully closing on some land soon that has good camping spots so I’m likely going to go this route for the next few years while I decide whether or not I want to build a cabin.

Smaller, lighter, more storage, more durable, more customizable.

I "converted" a 6x10 and it works great for this purpose. Insulated walls and ceiling. Also has both 12v and 110v so I can use either the battery I wired up or use a generator/shore power depending on where I am. E-track on the walls as well from which I built a shelf that is used as overhead storage and can still drive ATV underneath for transport. Back the ATV out and set up a cot and you're good to go.
I even went so far as to pick up an ARB awning and quick release kit so I can use the awning on the side of the trailer with the door, but then bought the awning room so I simply move the awning to the other side of the trailer and attach the room which gives you an 8x8 tent if you so desire.

Looking at purchasing a small utility trailer to take to the mountains with me this year. Those of you that haul stuff to the mountains with a utility trailer, what are your setups? Just regular trailers or do you install a little bit of a lift? Post pics if you have them. Sent from my iPhone...

Similar thread earlier this year. I shared some photos of our setup that mainly gets used by my dad and uncle. Everything is setup so you can still pull either two 4 wheelers or 1 SXS into the trailer when in transport mode.

Can be ran with either a generator and electric heat or propane heater and carbon monoxide detectors. With everything insulated it doesn't take much heat to keep it warm.

I ended up going with a popup A-frame camper with a ATV deck.
This things got ground clearance and low profile. Ive taken it down some ****** up roads.

A friends travel trailer took a beating in only two, snowy, deer seasons. 5 guys in and out with big wet boots did a lot of damage.

If I were to build something for hunting, I'd make sure to consider waterproofing the floor, and bottom of the walls. Would make it easier to clean out after a trip, too.
