I believe most of tourist business owners and employees are non residents, currently living down south. Visit Alaska in the winter and see how many service businesses are closed. Talkeetna and the Homer spit, same for seak are ghost towns now.For you, yes, but for businesses that cater to tourists I bet they have a different opinion. Those checks aren't going to offset that loss to their businesses.

Didnt all this happen back in 2008? And then everything else took a big ol dump in our economy?
I feel for businesses. But I am not a fan of them.businesses that strictly cater to tourists. Just got back from Seward and that place sucks in the winter now. I swear 5 or 6 years ago most of the restaurants stayed open during the winter. Hell now the brewery even shuts down for the winter. That is pretty sad. Other then the homer spit, the real homer stays open all winter. Plenty of places to eat, get coffee, both breweries stay open guides taking out people for kings. For you, yes, but for businesses that cater to tourists I bet they have a different opinion. Those checks aren't going to offset that loss to their businesses.
