For you, yes, but for businesses that cater to tourists I bet they have a different opinion. Those checks aren't going to offset that loss to their businesses.

I believe most of tourist business owners and employees are non residents, currently living down south. Visit Alaska in the winter and see how many service businesses are closed. Talkeetna and the Homer spit, same for seak are ghost towns now.

Tourist dollars are spent in Alaska, but they don’t all stay in Alaska.

Didnt all this happen back in 2008? And then everything else took a big ol dump in our economy?

Yeah, kind of. There was other things at play then, but there's definitely some similarities here that's for sure.

$4.25 for Regular and $4.79 for Diesel. Yesterday I went to Costco before the gas opened and the sign was $3.78. Just before the guy moved the cones for us to enter he put it at $3.87. This morning it is at $3.99.

As the prices rise, anyone want to start a pool as to how many pages this thread will go?

Have seen Regular from $4.09 - $4.34. Went up $0.50 from Friday into Saturday and apparently it went up another $0.20 last night. All in CT. Saw a picture posted today too of $4.74/gallon in town.

Kind of hard to see as I took a quick pic while driving by this morning, but both diesel and gas up another $.10/gal. At this rate we should be hitting $5/gal. sometime next week.

I feel for businesses. But I am not a fan of them.businesses that strictly cater to tourists. Just got back from Seward and that place sucks in the winter now. I swear 5 or 6 years ago most of the restaurants stayed open during the winter. Hell now the brewery even shuts down for the winter. That is pretty sad. Other then the homer spit, the real homer stays open all winter. Plenty of places to eat, get coffee, both breweries stay open guides taking out people for kings.

$4.20 today in Idaho Falls, if I remember correctly it went up to $4.85 in 2008 before everything came to a halt. I hope we can hang on this time and work through these challenges and persevere.
