Hot and dry on the Grand Mesa and Uncompahgre Plateau. It’s amazing considering there is still snow on the north faces in places above 9500’ on the Mesa. It’s going off fast though.

Was up in the San Juan national forest above Chama New Mexico last week, still snow way up and water running all over the place, looked good!

That's a big question, as it's going to vary statewide. In general, we had a ridiculous amount of snow this winter and it was winter conditions hiking up until early July in most places. (4-6 weeks behind schedule) Still a good amount of snow up high on north facing slopes, some may stay until fall. From what I've seen, everything is VERY green this year. We've had good rainfall in May/June as well but had a hot and dry stretch for the last couple weeks.

Been quite green and lush in higher elevations in central Rockies from where I've ventured, high elevation plants about 3 weeks behind normal, out on the plains it varies incredibly depending on exactly where. Went and set some cameras last week on the prairie and on the way in, 20 miles away, was still green with lots of sunflowers and forbs. In my unit it looked like marginal rain in past 6-8 weeks and was dry with lots of standing dry cool season grasses from wet spring, but marginal forbs. Monsoonal moisture patterns will play a big part in how things shape up before seasons.

Was at 10,800 this weekend up North, and even up there, where it is normally super dry, it was swampy. Still snow in places.

Mosquitoes are out in full force!!

These are the ones I swatted while trying to take a mid day nap.

Central rockies still have spring melt like waterfalls in higher elevations (aspen area). Super green, lush. On par with the snow pack received this year.

Grand Mesa, West Elks, Elk Mountains little rain for the last couple of months but still plenty of snow up there.
Looks like the monsoons may be finally starting to set up.

So many mosquitos up on Grand Mesa its not safe to piss.

Thermacell is my choice. DEET works okay but it sucks, and you're still swatting. I had to use DEET this weekend because my old Thermacell broke, I now have a replacement!

Still a fair bit snow and waterfalls where I was this weekend at timberline in Arapaho Ntl Forest. Found a few springs that I don't remember from years past gushing straight out the side of the hill.

Will be in the grand county area for the next week hiking around. Can’t wait to get away.
