Howa Mini Rifles, Builds, and Upgrades

So who's going to be first to buy a rokstok lites for their mini?

I have to be honest. It is not going to happen.

Since the rifles chambered in the mini actions don't recall at all, there is no need for the fugly negative comb of the rokstoks.

The good news, I predict I'll buy one of your current CF stocks within 12 months.

Unlikely you will ever buy any of my stuff due to me being in NZ 😅

I agree with your comb statements. But I haven’t read why everyone wants it. I’ll stick to my Stocky’s. Even though the stocky that asked isn’t the store people. I don’t even think he is in the USA.

Anyone know which of the 20MOA rail options for the mini's are lowest?

I've stuck with 2 piece on all the mini's so far but need some inclination on one of them. If one of the 20MOA rails is lower, I'd prefer to go with it.

I'd be interested in knowing this too.

Bottom metal tip and STATUS UPDATE on my bottom metal project.

FYI, you can modify your factory mags to fit into MDT's bottom metal that works with the Mamba mags they discontinued. Here is a bottom metal for $75 bucks. I figured out how to do it as I was playing with mags for a new design. All you have to do is cut a little notch in the back of them like the Mamba mag. Or, you could probably epoxy on a wedge shaped piece of kydex, but cutting a shallow spot has worked so far. Just don't cut all the way through.

I have been working on new designs for bottom metal for the Mini and Superlite. The mag release will be by the trigger guard which should eliminate some of the reported problems with the Superlite factory bottom metal which is also made of plastic.

I own the factory and DIP bottom metal for both Mini and Superlite, along with Jefferson and MDT's discontinued mag bottom metal. I did a video call explaining it to a CAD engineer, and am now sending all them to have a bottom metal designed off MDT's discontinued version, but improve it.

I will get a couple 3D printed prototypes. Maybe I'll have a few of you test them for me.

Along with the bottom metal prototypes, I am having them make me some magazines. Yes, I am pushing out the front of the magazine so that you can load longer in the Mini. I am making the bottom metal compatible with the factory magazines with the same modification I describe above.

Here is a listing for the discontinued MDT bottom metal.

Thank you. I use the JO BDL style but would like a good mag fed setup when it’s available. I really like the mini after a few changes. Good stuff.

Thanks for sharing this update! It's really cool to see the progress and I look forward to seeing the prototypes.

Besides increasing our inventory of components for builds, like barrels, stocks, bottom metal, magazines, I have other goals for some niche completed rifles.

Once we have our FFL, my goal is to offer "semi custom factory" Mini and Superlite all set up and configured. I'll probably also shoot 10 rounds to proof out the rifles, and ship with proof of sub MOA because the barrels I buy will have that guarantee from my supplier. I'd rather prove it before I sent it to a customer and have to deal with that drama.

We'll be able to sell them for a very small premium over the cost of acquiring the parts separately, because we'll basically make money off every part in the sale after buying at wholesale and designing our own parts. Assembling the parts into a rifle when all the parts are well designed doesn't take much tweaking.

That sounds awesome!

I would love to see a 8-12 round 6 ARC magazine.
If you can find the MDT bottom metal and Mamba magazine for 6.5 Grendel you can make it happen. But, the magazines are heavy...

It won't be hard to make a 8-10 round magazine. All depends on how much they cost and how soon I can fund it. Its just a matter of getting all the parts designed and sourced.

To start making the short magazines I can use the followers and springs from the standard magazines.

Pre-sale to help with purchasing things? 😂

I don't even have my stock yet or scope, but I'd would be all over getting a bigger mag capt.
