Definitely gonna add Howa Mini Prefits to our store. You know I love that little action.

What do you want to see? 22 ARC, .223, 6 ARC, 6x45, etc.

You can also include 308 sized case head that fit in a mag, LIKE: 22 or 6 BR/BRA/Dasher

It requires opening the bolt face and bushing the firing pin. I am working with a smith to offer that service. It should be less than $145 shipped.

Three problems to solve here:
1) Accuracy issues with some 6 ARC factory barrels.
2) Configuration sub optimality of the offered 6 ARC factory barrels.
3) Lack of availability of other mini cartridges of interest (223 AI, 22 Creed, etc.)

Addressing #1&2:

6mm ARC, 7 twist, 16.25” + 18" + 20" long, Lightest possible profile with flare to 5/8x24 threads, lapped, matte stainless

I see you're not doing 5/8 here, so of course 1/2 is acceptable and we can install our own thread adapters.

We are on the same page. I am working towards a custom contour for the flare. For now, it’s 1/2 adapters or HUB.

Might want to have some 22” 6 ARC options for folks that want to get more velocity. I really like the 22” sporter with the 6 ARC. I still run a can with the adapter.

18-20 in 6 or 22 arc for me. I like howas hb contour but am open to whatever. Where will you post those 22 arc prefits?

223. 1/8
22-250 1/8
6.5 Grendel
6 ARC

7.62x39 may interest some. But that is very popular on the Ruger Ranch crowd

If I was in the market, and I am. I would like to order the barrel the length I want and have it threaded without taking it to another Smith

I assume the $100 charge to cut and thread would pay for a lathe set up rather quickly.

I think a 710 taperless contour, still enough meat for 5/8x24, with the 1.06" howa mini shank will be pretty light. Very close to 2# at 18", I'd rock that for 6arc or 22arc. Be a perfect contour for a sig cross too

I will be selling some of those barrels and everything that I sell will be threaded.

So the question is what barrel lengths should I offer?

I have been operating on 18 inch as the most popular. I think the 16 and 20 inch barrels would be next. But, if there are those who want a 22 or 24 inch barrel I’m all for it. For those in suppressor less states, I can even cut the price to leave off the threads.

I decided to order one of the 16.25" ones today. Hopefully it wasn't too late to grab one of the first one's coming in from the first batch. Either way look forward to getting it!

16” for me. The attraction of the minis are their handiness. Shorter is easier. Makes them awesome with a can. By the time I pay to have a barrel cut and threaded I am halfway to the cost of a new barrel. If you offer the barrel swap for a reasonable fee that is even better. My LGS charges $500 labor for a barrel swap. He actually refused to cut my 20” 6.5 Grendel. Stated he would have to make a relief cut on the barrel or action and ruin the barrel to remove it and cut to 16”.

Man, I will do it for half, lol. 😂

A barrel swap is not that hard. I did a swap on my Mini just the other day. There may be a very stubborn barrel, but you don’t know till you try. Every barrel I have seen recently can be removed with some Kroil soak, heat, and the right tools fixed to a solid table.

I would offer it as a small fee just to sell the barrel. I won’t charge more than Preferred does.

Lemme get my FFL and we’ll be in business, literally.
