Howa Mini Rifles, Builds, and Upgrades

I’m thinkin about building a second Howa mini. I’m considering getting a different barrel for this one and am curious about weight. Does anyone know what the standard 22” barrel weighs? Or better yet what it weighs when cut to 16”? I cut my current 6arc to 16” but never told the smith to weigh it

Anyone installed a pic rail on the stockys VG Stock? I am looking at the SR EZ Pic rail. I just am unsure it will fit properly with how rounded the forend of the Howa mini stock is.

Man I'm glad I joined up and found this thread. Just ordered a 20" HB rifle for about the price of the barreled action from brownells, which I thought was a good way to start working up some loads right away. At the very beginning of this project, I was going to do a chassis, but now I've decided I want a stock. I'm currently stuck between B&C M40 and a Stocky's VG.

Earlier today I went to my LGS and ordered another 20” mini for $550 out the door. Will have the barrel cut down to 17” and put it in a Stockys I have here.

Got this put together today. It’s a mini in 22 ARC. I bedded it in a Stockys VG stock and added some texture to the grip and forend. It’s got a UM Spartan/pic rail up front and a Spartan gunsmith adapter in front of the mag well. The factory bottom metal was replaced with Jefferson dbm and I chopped the mag down to be as flush as possible. It easily hold 3 rounds and feeds fine. I’m
partial to dbm’s, especially in a kids gun, though a flush floor plate would be nicer for hand carrying the rifle. I used Burris two piece pic scope bases with Warne mountain tech rings. Scope is an swfa 3-9 I snagged on Black Friday. My 7 year old son helped me paint it because it will likely be his in the future, so I thought it would be cool to involve him in the project. He did a good
job after I gave him some direction.

Should get to shoot it within a week or so. Thing feels like a toy how light it is. The LOP is definitely short for me.

JB weld for the grip. I would not use it again without adding some thickener like cabosil or waiting for it to start setting up before applying. It just kept laying down and I had to babysit it for hours so it didn’t smooth out. For the forend I used some whatever Home Depot 15 minute epoxy and it worked way better.

Oh Stencil without doubt. If I free handed that it would look like a full blown stick figure etch-a-sketch from a helmet wearing window licker!
Good to know I'm not the only one who cant even follow a color by numbers! 🤣 It looks fantastic. Thanks for the response.
