I went in 2.5ish miles solo this year in a wilderness area so it was all on me for muzzleloader. I really watching my weight, didn’t get down to counting grams but definitely the lightest I’ve went in. Kept most of my extra essentials at the truck, along with an extra pad/sleeping bag so if I needed anything I could hike down after dark and spend the night there or hopefully stay the night after first load of a pack out.
Ran the argali rincon. Opted for no stove as I knew I’d be sleeping pretty close to my hunting grounds. I got rid of my thick pad this year and went with a Helinox cot and a thin foam pad. I’m a side sleeper also so this setup was just ok but better than uneven steep ground. The cot was nice because I could sit on it in the tent which for me is better than the ground bc my low back and hips suck. I’m really interested in a hammock setup but don’t want to blow money on something I’ve never really tried.
Getting out of your bag in the morning sucks either way so I just say f it. No comfortable way in a small short tent without a stove. I do 90 percent of my packing the night before, getting my water and food ration etc. one thing I did add was a Gatorade bottle for a piss bottle which was great. Drank it on the hike in and used it every night. That and ear plugs really help the night. I also brought a different emergency shelter for a true bivy if needed and added a small solar collapsible tent lantern that was nice to have.
