How often do you get to do this?

How many days do you get to hunt, trap, scout etc. during the year?

After finding out I’m destined to be a brokedick all my life in the car loan thread because there’s no way I’ll ever pull down $30k a month I find solace in this thread seeing that I get out several X more than most guys. Maybe that’s why I can’t land that $30k a month job 🤔

Bingo. The way I see it, when I get old, I'd rather scroll through photos and memories of the woods and mountains than copies of paid invoices and big contracts.

Gotta say not enough time spent hunting and fishing. Three kids in sports and running a business have really consumed a lot of my free time. Should be working now, but scheming about how I can squeeze out some extra days.

The quality public land adventures are limited for another year or so until my crazy busy daughter graduates. Luckily, I am blessed to have some family land nearby so I am in the woods a few times a week doing something. It's not the best hunting land, but it keeps the monster at bay until I can get my big woods fix. Praying I can keep my remote job for at least a few years after she graduates and I can bump around the NF's with starlink and some solar panels chasing turkeys and deer.

I feel like I went from 100+ to 20 or so days afield since my first kid was born in '22. Even though my wife is supportive, taking care of two toddlers while solo is a lot of work. This weekend, I took both kids (almost 3 and almost 2) prairie dog hunting, and even though it wasn't a long outing, the trip was successful. My wife even thanked me for taking them!

I need to get out more based on this poll. I am inspired. I do have a full time job but I also don't have kids or a dog or anything else deterring me from going. My spouse goes with me, so no friction there. My lame excuse is I lived in a place with horrible weather and worse bugs, but I moved so no more excuses.

Where did you move from and to? I'm curious

If it’s what you love and you can spare the time, do it. Lately I hunt probably 25 days a year, but I’ve taken years off when I was working and didn’t have the time. Hunting and fishing are my two biggest hobbies so I try and prioritize them as much as possible.

I'm holding at 50+, started at 30, but then quickly realized how off the mark that was once I started thinking about it. Prob 60+, but stayed a lil conservative. You add in fishing, its def 60+. #blessed #outdoorlife

The only days I'm not doing it is when I am haying or January through March when the snow is crusty and hard on horses legs. Those months I can earn money consulting. I do that if the clients allow me to work my way through things. If not I give them explicit instructions on where they can stuff it.

40+ field days for me each season but it’s pretty similar every year unless I mix in a sheep draw I got.

7 for spring bear
5 for fall salmon
15 for September elk or moose
7 for October white tail
7 for November mule deer.

With a mix of weekend hunts with my wife and kids for grouse and rabbits to introduce them to the lifestyle.

Essentially that’s been my hunting routine for the last 9 years. This year is a sweet sweet decade.

I have a 3.5 year old and a 1.5 year old at home.
Thankfully my wife stays at home and I don’t have to contend with her work schedule.

I am beyond lucky to be able to do this I am well aware and I’ll enjoy it while it lasts !

I get out between 100 and 200 times a year. These aren’t all day trips, but usually a couple hours before or after work. My wife is a saint and she knows I love the outdoors. We have 4 kids (9, 7, 4, 1). My 4 yo son loves everything outdoors and he will tag along with me a lot. I do alittle (a lot) of the everything.

Fishing through the year
Whitetail hunting almost every morning in Oct-Jan
Predator hunting Jan-April
Turkey hunting most mornings in May
Salmon Fishing every morning in September
3 day musky trip in October
Little ice fishing in the winter

Always something to do

60 plus baby! Stoked to be semi retired in a state where Coyotes and Cougars are unlimited! Too bad it's so hard to draw a big game tag.. Utah. If you see an old guy riding his bike (pedals) with a gun sticking out of a backpack, that's probably me.

60+ the last 4 years. Working seasonal contract work on the road has been great for time off to travel and hunt. It won't be that much for the next year though, as I build a house to get off the road. Looking forward to completing the house and the opportunity to start planning hunts again...
