How often do you get to do this?

How many days do you get to hunt, trap, scout etc. during the year?

I chose 30+. The last several years, I have probably been well over that. Maybe double? Going forward, I will probably have less time available, so I averaged it a bit.

30+. Probably realistically 50 days a year in the field.

I voted 30+ including summer hiking scouting, and hunting small game with kids and big game with my wife as well as all my solo/hunting buddy adventures. But if you add in fishing my number would probably triple. Starting mid April we fish once or twice a week until hunting season. It helps being a school teacher with summers off and no mortgage.

I kept a journal for a full year of every outing I made, most of them included my then 6 year old son. I wrote down everything we shot, fish we caught, mushrooms we cut, what we saw, gun and load, what the fish were biting on, everything.
I only did it the one year because it got tiresome jotting everything down. But I think we were somewhere right around 130 days out in the field or on the water that year.

He’s 9 now and I’d say we’re still on about the same program but he’s been doing a lot more of the shooting the last couple years.

It’s good to live in paradise with lots of time off.

There was 87 days last year I wasn’t hunting or fishing. Europe trip screwed up my average.
Caveat. I fish for a living and had 182 paid trips last year. So, kinda, not really, maybe???

Easily 60+ between hunting, fishing and scouting just on weekends, plus a week per year at deer camp in nov and usually a week vaca somewhere to hunt or fish. 50's, full time job, no kids. It's what we do, both my wife and I. Might double that if you counted before or after work short trips. Pretty much everything local, everything we do is within a 5 minute to 1-hour drive.

Work hard play hard.

I try and make a point to hike/fish/scout/hunt/ski/sled etc 2x a week year round. Keeps the brain right

I think in year's past I would have chosen 30+ or even 40+ but this year has been lean so far. From Oct 1 to now I think I've only been out maybe 6 days, all 6 archery hunting until I tagged out. Haven't turkey hunted yet. Should fish this weekend. Kids sports taking up more time. But we will get after it in the summer time fishing.

I’m retired, so I can enjoy outdoor activities every day. Wife still works, but she doesn’t like me much anyhow.

I train my dog 5-6 nights every week and run tests all . Then from august till freeze up try to hunt as much as i can with him and most my hunting is less than an hour from my house. Then when it freezes ice fish a bunch as i drive from my garage with the sxs to the lake. Some times its all day doing stuff or just a couple hours in the evening. Throw in some deer hunting or coyotes here and there.

I’d be curious to actually tally the hours for a year.
But also break it down. To hunting/ fishing/ with or without the youngsters with me etc.

I wouldn’t want to have any proof tho for anyone to use against me.
If you ask me I said 40+. If you asked my wife, it’s probably 250+.

I voted 30+, still doesn’t seem like enough. With a couple of kids under the age of 5 it’s a little hard to get out at times but that’s improving as they get easier to handle.

I hunt out west about 6 days every fall, 5 days for turkeys in the spring and as much as possible for whitetails (20+). I get out fishing when I can but don’t have as much of a passion for that.

I was probably at about 20-40 the past couple years with waterfowl and big game. Over time I've built up the amount of private land I can hunt through new connections I make with clients at work. With private I do have to scout less for waterfowl and big game which will help now that I have a newborn at home. Probably be in the 15-20 range this year

Not as much as I would like.

Last year I only deer hunted a total of 8 days. Didn’t get to go out west to hunt. Only got to small game hunt 2x. I did a terrible job balancing my schedule last year.

Doing better this year. Already got my vacation days put in for Colorado elk, if I don’t draw I’ll scrounge the leftover list, and several long weekends for deer hunting in NC. Shooting for 40+ days afield this year.
