How many people are happy with their Howa Mini?

I have a hankering to build a 6mm ARC bolt gun but want a mini action to go with it.
I have been reading quite a few posts on these little rifles but it seems after buying the action from Brownells and a Stockys stock of some kind many people are still not happy with the rifle.
Is this a waste of time and money or a great little shooter?

The Howa mini isn’t perfect, but it’s been ok for the money. I put mine in a Stockys VG. Clipped a coil off the trigger spring and have the trigger down to ~ 2 lbs.

I’m going to bed the stock and clear the barrel channel out a bit more before I get too serious about chasing accuracy.

Mine is a stock 6 ARC and drives tacks. I shoot the hornady match ammo and it is sitting around .5-.6 moa 3 shot groups

I have 2 in 6.5 Grendel, 2 in 223, one in 6 ARC, and I'm ordering another 223. Every one has had great accuracy (even with the cheap Houge stock and Nikko Sterling scope that some models have come with) and I would buy more if I needed them.

With the new style of magazine release (very nicely recessed) and a sub $500 price point (on gunbroker) they are great guns if you understand the limitations of plastic bottom "metal". My 6 ARC is my favorite 600 and in rifle to carry and shoot.

I have two; one 6.5 Grendel with the heavier contour 20” barrel and plastic black stock. The other is a 223 Carbon Stalker with a 22” sporter contour. I thought that the plastic box magazine functioned really well, but I purchased the Jefferson Outdoors bdl style bottom for the Grendel. I like it very much and I plan on getting another one soon for the 223. Overall, I think my Howa’s were a good purchase and would buy another.

I got a Howa Superlite from Brownells and a separate Stockys stock and I think as long as you’re aware that for the price there will be a couple of little things to work on it’s a great buy.

The stock is the biggest issue in my experience, and in my research of the forums.

For me the cons - with regard to the action - were that the packaging is a little sparse and a couple of items clinked around causing some wear, the bottom metal is plastic (can be replaced), and I think that’s generally it.

The stock is the crapshow. Overall will work but you need to take it off, sand places down, bed it properly as you would any stock, and get everything fitting well.

I know it's only a 3 shot group but the range was closing down. 6mm ARC Howa mini. I bought a barreled action from Brownells, after market floorplate/triggerguard and a factory second stock from Stockys. 103 eldx in front of 30 grains of cfe223. Shoots 2700 fps.

My daughter took her first deer with it this fall. Needles to say, I'm probably going to build another one in 22 ARC when they become available.

Or just go shoot it. This is with factory ammo, did nothing to the gun, completely stock. Ballistic-X-Export-2024-01-02 15:27:24.384631.jpgBallistic-X-Export-2024-01-02 16:13:30.221240.jpg

The Mini Actions and the Superlite are 2 completely different actions. The Superlite has very little aftermarket support currently since it is an action built between the Mini and Short action sizes and due to action screw spacing, stocks and accessories for both of those well supported Howa actions won't work. While I do find the Superlite action interesting, I do not see a greater value in it over a well supported short action.

I got the 6arc Howa carbon barrel and stocky stock. I needed it and opened up the barrel channel to clear the barrel and it's shooting 1.25" 10 shot groups with 108 eldm. It's a perfect gun for my 12 year old to carry.

I’m very please with my Howa Mini 6mm ARC. I got the barreled action with the 22” sporter barrel from Brownells and put it in a Bell and Carlson M40 stock. I highly recommend the clamp on oversized bolt knob from Legacy Sports. It makes cycling it much better.

I like the mini 6ARC I picked up for the kids, after doing work on the trigger, magazine, stock, and bolt. It shoots fine, functions fine, but not as good as a Tikka. Decent step up from a Ruger American.

Zero chance I'd do a Howa mini if I'm buying a .223, the Tikka is hands down a better rifle. To me its only compelling advantage is the chambering it's available in.

The reason I went with the Howa Mini Carbon Stalker in 223 was because it was under 6lbs with scope and mounts.

I’ve been very happy with my heavy barrel 20” 6.5 Grendel. It shoots Hornady Black 123 ELDM very well.

I recently loaded up some 107TMKs and made repetitive hits on target at 1120 yards.

Only thing I’ve done to mine is swap out the heavy plastic stock for a Stocky’s VG version carbon fiber stock.
