How long will the ammo shortage last?

I agree with the comment about the next school shooting being the trigger for more control.

They will come for the larger magazines first via tax stamp or forfeiture.

Then other scary looking broomsticks, anything semi-auto will be suspect.

Our kids will continue be fish in a barrel regardless, indoctrinated by the state, taught mostly defenseless, weak, albeit well-meaning women.

Lot of people talking about all their guns and ammo they need on these sites. All my guns were tragically lost in a boating accident several years back, I don't even remember the name of that lake but damn it was deep.
I do not plan to 'loose' or bury my firearms either.

From the time in 2013 when the shelves went bare, it was two years before .223/5.56 and 9mm were back in stock in any type of consistent supply and back to "almost" the pricing before 2013. However, it was 6 years (early 2019) before that ammo was back to "cheap" pricing like $.25/round for good brass cased .223/5.56 and $.14/round for 9mm. And as most remember.....it took way longer than 2 years for .22LR to make a come back. The reasoning was........22LR was the last priority at that point.

So depending on what happens in GA in Jan, that will have a huge impact on what Biden can and cannot do, and also a huge impact on when or if ammo and components make a comeback. History tends to repeat itself.......until it doesn't. It's not until after the gate is shut, that the sheep start looking around and wondering what just happened.

The hoarding will be short lived when people see that Biden isn't going to seriously affect gun laws. Possibly some window dressing to appease parts of his party, but I don't think there will be significant change, especially in anything hunting oriented.

Many of the new/recent gun owners would list a D behind their voting preference. I think that works in 2a's favor, with a lot more people familiar with and personally affected by any new gun laws.

Didn’t vote for him and I agree with you. I’ll say he’s not the Devil, just another rich old white guy. There are 300 million plus firearms in this country in private hands and who knows how many billion rounds of ammo. The Socialists will chip away slowly, the long game is being played here. Look for some noise to be made but there will be no sweeping change. People panicking now does nothing but drive costs up, which is another chapter in the playbook.

I swung by my local sporting good store yesterday and they seem to have plenty of ammo. You couldn’t be picky but they pretty much had every caliber covered

Shelves are still bare in South central.

Not the same....The last election yes stuff was back in stock because of who got elected. However for a few years before that there was a "shortage" although not as bad as this one. With the admin that is incoming it aint going to be back to normal by spring.
Exactly, after the Obama elections it took years to normalize. When Trump got elected people stopped buying as they felt a sigh of relief and there was a glut of ammo and guns in short order. If Biden is the President I don’t see this correcting for years if it ever does based on his proposed policies

I agree with you and am sick of the America is doomed every four years but I also do think that the Democratic Party is a far cry from what it was when Obama first got elected and what it is now. I do think that there will be some attacks on the second amendment in the next four years but its not going to be as far fetched as everyone makes it out to be.

I tend to agree with this.

The fear mongering and huge overreactions (from both sides) on every issue is getting so old. We'd be in a much better place if the far extremists from both the Left and Right just went away.....

All you have to do is go read his gun control plan on his campaign website....they want "assault rifles" and high cap mags made NFA items they also are already salivating over the potential rev generated by this proposal...as soon as anything that is semi auto and holds over 10 rds reqyuires a NFA stamp...that should slow down ammo demand...

Trump banned bump stocks, passed no pro-gun legislation at all and in 2018 said "Take the guns first, go through due process second."

Based on actual action taken, rather than words, I'm not sure why there would be a worry about a Democrat in office.

Well, if anyone is going to dismantle my constitutional rights, it'd better be a REPUBLICAN and not some communism-loving democrat. The average American needs someone like them to look out for their best interests as president- which is why I voted for the lifelong New York democrat billionaire game show host.

Anyone got Varget?

You can tell just by reading this thread they have a great start. We seem to have an entire generation who believe it's raining while someone pisses down their neck.

Guy at a local store said he was told by his buyer that it would be at least 3 years before we see ammo on the store shelves full again
Of course he said that. Then they can double or triple the price and still sell it all. Stoke the fear and cash the checks. Simple.

I only read the first page and the last page of this.......just as I suspected it’s fear mongering and blind speculation at its finest. It amazes me how some folks never get tired of spreading the doom and gloom.

I panicked after Sandy Hook. Within a year after that, I had built (assembled) and stashed away 12 AR15’s in various configurations along with the 5 I already had. Well....Sandy Hook came and went......and nothing happened. Just a huge panic for nothing. Then the next shooting, and the next, and the next.......and everytime there was nonstop fear mongering and panic........yet nothing ever happened. Nothing is going to happen now.

The novelty of buying up ammo will soon fade, like it has every time before. You wouldn’t have to worry about this if you (people in general) would gradually build up your inventory of items you need. Be it loaded ammo or components for reloading. It’s not like you haven’t seen this play out atleast half a dozen times in the last 8-10 years.

I got on Gunbroker and I looked at what CCI450’s are selling for. Apparently I have enough primers in today’s market to pay for the construction of a nice 80’x100’ shop building and equip it pretty well. But.....I refuse to be one of those piece of shit scum bags that price gouge.

Oh yeah.....you fellas that keep claiming you lost your guns in a “boating accident”. That shit is played out. Come up with something a bit more creative for us.

^ your the guy who said covid was nothing to worry about, right.

Along with countless others.....that still feel the very same way. You were one of the biggest doom and gloomers in that entire thread. Get over it man. Don’t be pissed off that some people chose not to let it affect them.

I cannot help it if I am aware of how much covid has effected everything.

Maybe I need to work on being oblivious.
