How is inflation affecting you?

My wife & I planned on moving from our current state, but are holding off as of now due to the price of housing. Our food expenses went from $200 every 3 weeks, to $200 every 2 weeks. This past Thursday morning, I fueled up my truck at $3.75 a gallon, on the same day, in the late afternoon, the price was $4 a gallon. We live within our means as well. I'm not complaining though, just stating facts, I feel sorry for those that are doing everything right and are now struggling to make ends meet.

I wish they could keep a Popeyes open in my area, but they never last over a year before closing down. That Chicken Po-Boy ain't half bad.

This popped up in my news feed a couple days ago. These guys make some pretty funny vids.

I normally try to go to one or two of the national outdoor shows this time of year and I've stopped going. Fuel, hotels, food expense and the cost of whatever I buy at the show adds up quickly. Equal or greater than the cost of a hunting trip, so I have stopped going to them. I am stocking up on things like dog food for my hunting dogs to hedge against price increases and shortages. I get it on sale when I can and starting to buy two or three bags at a time until I get a 9 month supply.

Been fortunate that inflation hasn’t affected us. Yet. Wife got a huge raise at work. She went to her boss and said “pay me or I’m leaving.” She got a $30k raise right then.

I work as a nurse and I have taken advantage of OT, crisis pay and bonuses over the last 2 years of COVID. I doubled my average salary.

We sold our house and more than doubled our money on that sale. Bought a new home from our in laws at a “family discount.” We have no car payments, no CC debt. We have saved enough money over the last 2 years that we could both be out of work for a couple years and still be fine.

Didn't read all the replies....but with the increase in groceries and gas, I out an extra $450/month. That's a $5,400 a year hit. Money that is not going into retirement. Or the economy. Wife picked up some hamburger last night. Yes, we are out. $5.00 a ****ing pound. Bought a chicken to make soup. $20. My wife and I make decent money. I'm a senior automation engineer and she's a nurse. I do have a 64 mile commute and hers is 34. I do have the ability to work at home but since much of my time is spent on the floor, its hard to determine a WFH schedule.

In his SOTU address President Houseplant blamed prescription drug prices and the cost of day care as the driving factors behind infaltion. AYFKM.... This IS the result of 50 years in political office with no meanigful accomplishments.

Elections. Have. Consequences. And I hope those voted for this admin feel them.

My oldest son just got a full time position after a fellowship. Starting salary is over 6 figures and he only has to go into the office 1 day every two weeks. Sometimes there are opportunities that are created out of chaos and stupidity but for most, this just sucks.

It sucks. Wife and I both graduated college in 2020 from nursing school right into the middle of the pandemic. Although we are making a good bit more than all of our friends, and I am certainly thankful for that, we can hardly touch a house for anywhere near what I was planning to pay. At this point we are looking to build a duplex to offset costs and hopefully use it as an income source once we move out. I just hate throwing away money to rent. I'm currently paying about twice what my parents mortgage is for 3000+ square feet for my 925 square foot shack. When we signed the contract for our current rental, the land lords real estate agent informed us that since the house was listed (24 hours earlier) they had already received more than 100 calls- we got a steal compared to a lot of the rentals on the market and I still wince every time I sign a rent check. We had outgrown our current house before we moved in.

Luckily both of us already own reliable vehicles (no payment)- although I did have to buy mine right as prices began to skyrocket- but the price of gas is putting a damper on my normal couple trips a month.

Had some friends over for dinner the other night and about puked after seeing a pack of two chicken breasts' in the grocery store for 9.97$
Hey, we need travel RNs in SW CO and can't hardly find any. Don't know if travel is an option, , but as you know you can crush if it is.

We have strongly, strongly considered it- still might. We are at a hospital with pretty good ratios and staffing and just apprehensive what we might get into.

You all really eat at Popeyes.
Considering I live at least 2 hours from any kind of fast food place it's something different. You really live in Calirado?

I just paid $5.16 a gallon for unleaded at the cheapest place I could find. Diesel is substantially more. Of course I live in one of the most fuel expensive areas in California but even for here that's a little ridiculous and going to get worse. When fuel goes up, everything goes up.

I took out another loan for a 2022 UTV, a truck, and the latest and greatest iPhone. Hell debt don’t matter…. Have 4 maxed out credit cards and need more credit cards!!

In all reality, I’ve been cutting back on groceries and driving just for the hell of it. Walking more and riding my bike to get to fishing holes, etc. buying more non perishables these days as I really didn’t consume veggies before they go bad.

You'll get treated like a rented mule at some places, but collect 4x your normal wages. Our hospital we are just happy to have the help and I like to think we treat our travelers well.
