How close is too close? (Scope mounting question)

Wow that's close!
If it were me I'd flip the front mount and nudge the scope up just a bit like others have said. Check eye relief and clearance and go shoot

if you have enough magnification and can lock down the rifle in sand bags you will be shocked at the amount of movement of the cross hair by putting you hand on the front objective. a slight squeeze with your forefinger will cause you many inches of movement by the cross hair at 200yd.

the same movement takes place with less power, whether it is easily visible or not.

I’d definitely say that is too close. Also I would ask why you are inclined to run such a low mount?

I had a different scope on it previously and tried this new scope on it hoping to save the mounts/rings. I ordered a new set this morning...

That is about perfect now! Too many folks mount them way too high. Like way way high.
