Household chemicals that will dissolve brass?

Electroplating.

DC reverse polarity and an electrolyte should do the trick.
 
Most dies are hardened. A brass or steel brush on a drill can probably wipe it out and not scratch the die.
 
I'm pretty sure it's the ammonia in Wipe Out that dissolves brass, copper, etc. Perhaps you have some of that on hand. My only concern is that once you start introducing chemicals that can dissolve those metals it may damage your dies as well by etching them.
