Hey team, I'm looking to add a high end goose call to my quiver, but it is a saturated market.

I have a used LMC closer to practice on and it sounds pretty good. I'm looking for something a little shorter and more aggressive.
I also have a field proven hybrid that I play around with but it takes more air to run.

I have some calling fundamentals but I'm looking to shoot geese not win money. The target species is big honkers in northern California, mostly running traffic.

I keep hearing
-The Field Proven Matrix is fast and a winner.
-Tim Grounds calls are seemingly magic but he has so many I wouldn't know what to get
-Lynch has legendary gear now, so I could always try one of his shorter calls because I like the Closer.

Where should I be looking? I find it nearly impossible to go off the factory sound files because those guys are world champions...

Do I just need to start buying and trading until I find the goldilocks call for me?

Don’t get too crazy about buying and trading thinking there’s going to be a magic one that will be “the one” The grounds pro super mag is pretty much the ground zero of what all other goose calls came from. Get one and PRACTICE! Practicing will eliminate the Goldilocks factor and get you to a point where you can actually appreciate the difference between all the calls and why they differentiate from one another. But without a solid foundation you’ll be looking for “the one” forever. If you can’t make a super mag sound good you probably won’t be able to make any of the others sound good either. If your dead set on a fast call and not getting good first any shorter call will be fast. Also high end doesn’t always mean better. The first time I met Tim he had a poly super mag with electrical tape wrapped around it. That was the call he used in the contest that day and it was awesome. Really just call Hunter from the number off the website. He will get you taken care of and is a stud

So if I'm getting a TG call go with the super mag vs a G-overhauler?

Or just get something generally considered decent and practice a ton.

I have a drc life sentence that I can get pretty fast with and use on the big geese here. The better I have got I have found the simpler I call and reading the geese has really helped how and when to call.

I have had many high end short reeds, Foiles, Grounds even Primos had a high end acrylic.

Only call I have anymore is a Mick Lacy Chinook, got it on closeout for like 20$, It's a winner!

Grounds half breed is a solid call. My friend Bill can make anything sound better than me!!!

I ordered a Molt Gear Rush in October. Very fast call, doesn’t take much air to run, sounds good to me. Might be one to consider.
