I’m a 17 fan, and like my CZ as my rat gun. I can’t even think of a reason to not go with a tikka though, I assume I got my CZ before tikka started making rimfires or I would have likely went that way.

Many think I’m going to upgrade my 22 game. Wife has a Henry 22mag that’s fun to carry in the pickup while working whacked a couple song dogs with it and plenty of gophers. I have a pile of 22lr I never shoot and think I’m wanting to get a ruger American predator 22lr. My 223 predator is great. Wondering if you guys have played with a ruger predator 22lr? If threaded barrel cz or tikkas were cheaper I would try to find one. For a pickup bolt gun give me ideas, threaded preferred.

Can't speak for the predator model but I've got a just a plain 22" ruger american in 22lr and besides my old marlin model 60 it's my favorite 22lr.
It's very accurate with just about any ammo. I don't see why the predator model would be any different.

Thanks! Glad you like it!

I have T1x rifles in .22 and 17 HMR. Crazy smooth and accurate.
I’ve been super happy with my T1x 22 & 17 as well. The 22 shoots pretty much everything well. Seems to be quite a bit less fussy than my 2 boys heavy barreled RARs, though they are also quite accurate with ammo they like.

The Savage Mark II FV-SR is a great little rifle and would leave room in your budget to go toward an optic.

I agree. I just got the same rifle for my daughter and it’s better than I thought. Good shooter and more money to optics.

ETA: It’s no Tikka as far as build quality goes, but it’s better than I thought for the money.

I've got a T1x in 22lr and SWFA 3-9. The thing shoots 10 rounds groups at fifty yards with all rounds touching. So far I've tried a bunch Eley rounds and all shot about the same as Norma Tac22. Since I'm using this for practice I'm perfectly happy with bulk Norma at 7 cents a round. It's awesome going to the range, shooting 100 rounds and knowing I just spent 7 bucks!

It doesn't shoot Norma non-tox as well as the Tac22 but it still holds to minute of squirrel!IMG_20230401_152952095_HDR.jpg

Local gun store, guy talked me out of the mark 2, wasn’t in love with the ruger, no 22lr tikkas. He handed me a used bmr over 100 off of new, about the same price as the ruger. He said if I don’t like it he will buy it back at the same price. Shoots good as is with no bipod. Going to clean up the action and start playing a little more once the snow clears up again!

Another Tikka T1x fan. Mines the 16” barrel and it’s such a joy to care in the field. Shoots a 10 round dime size hole at 25 yards and still pretty tight at 50. I have an old fixed 4x leupold scope on it.
