Here I thought Ryan Lamper was one of the good guys for the hunting world…

This is crazy since, as we all know, prosecutors never over charge on allegations and the facts are always as law enforcement allege. /s

I’m always interested in the weird Venn diagram of dudes who don’t trust the government yet always immediately believe allegations as presented by local governments and then reported by the media.

I hope it’s not true, but some of it certainly could be.

Muleyfreak still has all kinds of sponsors (kryptek, basemap, etc.) with multiple convictions. Kinda crazy that things like this don’t end a career in the hunting world these days.

I boycott every company associated with proven poachers and hope everyone else does

Typically, Fish and Game cases take years to develop before charges are filed. Given that this happened 10 months ago and charges have been filed, it's reasonable to assume the State has a solid case, either based on the evidence or his confession. The fact that he has removed his online presence and is not standing on his large soapbox of followers proclaiming his innocence seems odd. Still, as with everyone in our great country, he is innocent until proven guilty. If he is found innocent, then I accept that; if he is found guilty, then I hope he loses his hunting rights for life.

Well said. Those of us that see things like this play out repeatedly over time might expect something like a lesser plea on a couple charges in exchange for dropping many of the others. It’s why the pros typically overcharge like I said.

Now, what does that legal phenomenon mean for what an accused did or didn’t actually do? We’ll never know.

But the whole rush to judgement thing is lame and is a bit pitchfork-rube like.

He clearly wasn't stealthy enough. This is a tough one, ive met Ryan and his family when he lived in Wa and he shared so much and literally couldn't wait to get into the back woods. I hope he comes out of this ok, guilty or not.

Not defending, but to be fair all the charges could be explained by him honestly thinking he was in unit 28 instead of 21. 28 and 21 border each other. Reduced lion tags are even good in a lot of 21. 28 was legally open for all the species (reduced mountain lion would have to be in wilderness only).

Now it makes no sense how he could make that mistake, especially if you are familiar with those unit boundaries. Makes me think it was likely a deliberate act of deception, but nonetheless, it is possibly an honest mistake of unit boundaries.

Don’t really have a dog in the fight, so crucify him if you want, the story didn’t really accurately tell the facts unless you actually know the area and the associated seasons.
With things like on X on every device possible now days, it’s almost impossible to make this type of mistake. Possible? I guess, incredibly implausible, yes. Unlikely for a “hunter” of this caliber, also yes.

The difference is state fish and game agency’s generally don’t miss often. That’s because it takes an enormous amount of money, time and resources to build cases like this, and they don’t bother with ones that don’t already have a shit load of evidence.

State fish and game is like the fed, they don’t take or prosecute cases they think there is even a small chance they lose often.

No idea who this is, but I’d imagine with the charges they have a pretty good idea how it will play out.
