Here I thought Ryan Lamper was one of the good guys for the hunting world…

Not defending, but to be fair all the charges could be explained by him honestly thinking he was in unit 28 instead of 21. 28 and 21 border each other. Reduced lion tags are even good in a lot of 21. 28 was legally open for all the species (reduced mountain lion would have to be in wilderness only).

Now it makes no sense how he could make that mistake, especially if you are familiar with those unit boundaries. Makes me think it was likely a deliberate act of deception, but nonetheless, it is possibly an honest mistake of unit boundaries.

Don’t really have a dog in the fight, so crucify him if you want, the story didn’t really accurately tell the facts unless you actually know the area and the associated seasons.
He knows how to use a GPS, ONX/gohunt. He knew where he was. I have a terrible time believing that seeing how much he has used gohunt.

Except there’s this little tiny thing called the salmon river that separates the units. You can’t be serious. With all the tech this granola is using he knew exactly where he was shooting a buck.

oh c’mon dude….get serious now.

You mean so no one recognizes him, or because it’s better to be well groomed when you’re interviewing for jobs seeing as how he just ended his career as an influencer?
I don’t know, that aram von Benedict guy is still writing for sports afield and he flat out strong armed a mule deer away from some lady. I guess it’s different but still…

Edit to add: the ladies boyfriend should be banned for life from hunting for just watching an influencer take his girlfriends deer. Especially when the dude taking the deer had a dumb mustache and was wearing a cowboy hat.

Agreed with both of you. If you read, I said as much. Doesn’t make much sense for an experienced hunter. Just pointing out that people do make honest mistakes. I wouldn’t guess that’s the case here, but misunderstanding unit boundaries can and does happen frequently.

Muleyfreak still has all kinds of sponsors (kryptek, basemap, etc.) with multiple convictions. Kinda crazy that things like this don’t end a career in the hunting world these days.
No kidding. A lifetime hunting ban in all the compact states would curtail this stuff quite a bit I think.
