I recently bought a secondhand SWFA 1-4x in a Seekins MXM mount to experiment with magnified optics on my AR. I went to mount the setup to my Daniel Defense today and even after I torqued the mount screws to 55 in/lb there's significant play between the mount and the pic rail. However, if I put the mount way forward on the forearm's pic rail it's rock solid.

Historically I've always ran a red dot with an integrated mount on this gun and never had any issues. Any ideas what's going on here? I've made sure there's no paint on the mounting surface or interfering with the mount in any way. Is it possible the pic rail on the upper is somehow out of spec?
