Idaho hail storm

Crazy weather, Looks like a Texas hail storm. Should be some lumpy trucks for sale at the Stealerships :sneaky:

That’s good I was really worried about the chukar hatch

My wife just picked our zucchini and it looked like it was hit with 00 Buck. Brutal. Eggs would not stand a chance.

Same. I'm worried all of the upland birds. This kind of wet and cool weather in late June is not good. Only hope is that the mild winter/early spring had them hatching early and they're bigger than normal for this time of year.

Hope any of you fellas in Boise etc fared well last night. We got about 2 inches of water in the crawl space. Street drains were clogged all night.

I pretty much don't do residential design anymore, but this is why I always oversize pipes, use the big 4' ITD catch basins, placing doubles at critical locations, throw in extra manholes, and always grade to keep water away from any foundation. I don't even like having parking lot catch basins on the building's sidewalks. Water needs to be pushed outward. The lot grading on some of the home parcels is insane. It's worth spending the extra money on fill material to ensure your FFE is above the curb elevations. I saw one video where the water toppled the window sill and spilled into the living room.

This was back in April, a much lesser storm. Water is surcharging out of this manhole at Ustick-5mile. There were more in the area that were worse that I saw while driving.

I saw that video too. Crazy stuff. One thing about where we live is that the ground has gotten very uneven and lumpy over the years. The water rose and kind of tilted into our yard and there just wasn’t enough grade to the back to move it away. That drain I am clearing is a double drain but catches a TON of upstream water. I am always out there clearing leaves and in the winter chopping icebergs so it drains. No one else around me seems to give one damn about keeping them clean. One guy told me “that’s the city’s job!!!” I told him if you can get them out at 9pm in the middle of a storm , please do.

Streets and their storm drain systems in the 6 cities of Ada County are ACHD's responsibility. The only place in the country that cities don't have control of their own roads.
