I’m working on a 6.5 PRC build for long range hunting. Specs are a 24" Bartlein barrel, Impact action, and MDT chassis.

Before I got into longer range shooting, I ran Swarovski scopes almost exclusively and loved them, especially the Z6 and Z8 series. Once I started dialing more, I moved to a Huskemaw, which I never really liked, and eventually to a Nightforce ATACR on my 300 PRC. The ATACR has been rock solid and I have no complaints from a tracking or reliability standpoint, but to my eyes the glass still isn’t quite as crisp as what I remember from the Swaros.

I’ve been reading that Swarovski is discontinuing the Z6 and pushing the Z5+ line, with expanded dialing capability. From what I can tell, the Z5+ can dial roughly 40 MOA of elevation, which would be more than enough for this 6.5 PRC setup.

I’m curious if anyone here has real world time behind the new Z5+. Specifically, how does the glass compare to the old Z6 or the current Z8? And for those who have used both, how does it stack up against a Nightforce ATACR optically?

I’ve also noticed the Z8i+ exists, but unless I’m missing something, it doesn’t appear to offer anywhere close to the same usable vertical dialing range as the Z5+.

Any firsthand experience or insight would be appreciated.
