6.5 PRC build question

In the process of gathering components to build a 6.5 PRC. I’m aware of the chamber issues and bolt click on reloads. I know people are using the AW2 reamer to finish an existing chamber to eliminate the bolt clicks but have any of y’all used this reamer on a brand new barrel blank? Wondering if I should just initially chamber the barrel with the reamer?

Yes, do it right first. What are you building? Can’t leave that out. We wanna know.

Any downside to factory ammo in the AW2 chamber? My try the easy button with factory ammo prior to load development

No issues with factory ammo with the aw2 reamer.
My chamber was cut using the aw2 and it shoots factory ammo just fine

I have heard, eh read, the term several times but I am not sure what is meant by it: what is a "clicker" with reloads in 6.5 PRC?

When chambers are sized less than optimally, handloaders get more brass stretch with less rebound. So, it sticks in the chamber a bit. When that happens. The bolt is hard to lift, and the case resists extraction until, pop, then brass breaks free and the bolt “clicks” as it opens all the way and slaps the action.

Too much pressure and brass get stuck so hard it can break the extractors and you have to use a rod to push it out of the chamber, but that can happen with any chamber. Clickers can also happen with any chamber as well.

Going with a short barrel, just shoot a 6.5 Creedmoor. Either way, either cartridge purchased in a Tikka t3x lite stainless is vastly cheaper and good dang rifles.

Have the same rifle in 6.5 prc. Stupid accurate with all factory loads I’ve tried and with the 156 Bergers(factory loaded also), they were the best I’ve seen from a factory rifle.

This was the original discussion on it that covered the PRC clicker saga well.

In the 5 years since that thread started lots of gunsmiths who chamber PRCs have settled on Wheeler's reamer specs to have less issues with reloads.

Any trouble with clickers reloading for the Tikka 6.5 PRC? Are folks cleaning those chambers out with the Wheeler reamer or just running them?

I’ve got two of the tikka 6.5 prcs and load to within a grain of max and have had zero issues and I have had issues with a 300wm before so I’m familiar.

I’ve never had any issues with “clickers” in my Tikka in its factory setting. Only thing I did to it was adjusted the trigger pull and put a scope on it. Pretty cutting edge stuff. Lol
