Help me with blisters!

But also try to use the biggest arch support you can tolerate. And replace it every year too. Idk for sure but you might need a heel lift or full insert on the right side to even weight out.

I’m currently using the Superfeet green. Recommendations for a better insole?

Well I just gave the base layer socks a try. Got the Injini toe socks and put them under my FITS socks. After 45 minutes of walking hills, I ripped open my heel again. I’m super frustrated. One thing I think is contributing to this is my left heel has a prominence that sucks out past the bottom of my heel. It’s from intentional tendinitis from what my PT says. I’ve had it for years. I think it’s rubbing into the back of my boot and since it creates a protrusion past the back of the rest of my heel, I can’t properly lock it in. It seems to slip around no matter how I tie my boots (Lapponia 3’s). My right boot heel never slips. Any idea where I should look next? Possibly new boots? I have super wide forefeet so I have to have a large toe box, that’s why the Lapponia feels so good at the forefoot.

Sucks man, I have had to troubleshoot similar foot issues (left foot has a weird prominence on my ankle that gives me grief).

Blisters are 100% caused by friction due to movement. I had to troubleshoot my own problems by taking slow steps and analyzing myself where it was slipping. I went to firmer insoles, as my previous ones allowed too much movement. I also had to come up with my own weird lacing procedure to allow for me to get proper tightness to reduce slipping, but avoid putting pressure directly on my ankle protrusion.

If you have a wide toebox, you may have to tie it super tight around your feet as well to prevent your foot from sliding forward. Ideally a boot will feel like a tight glove that moves with you but provides support. Any slip between your foot and boot is bad.

The liner socks will only reduce the friction, they will not prevent the movement. Try analyzing your own steps while making adjustments. If everything else fails, tape that heel -- so the tape takes the friction instead of your skin.

I didn’t read everything posted but stretching your feet, ankles, and calves can help. The more flexible you are the more your feet will move with the boot versus against it. This is for heel blisters primarily. I also use double leuko tape and a stiffer all leather boot that locks my foot in place.

I have the Lapponia 2 and have the some issue, I too think the back of my heel is shaped wrong lol. I’ve tried other insoles, but the lift my foot to high and bring my heel out of the heel pocket which makes it worse. I just use the crispi insoles. The best thing I’ve done is leukotape and then opposite of what everyone recommends and keep them looser than normal and only tighten them if I’m side hilling a bunch.

I typically only hike/backpack in trail runners. Hunting is where the boots come in play for me.

What helped me to not get huge blisters on the Colorado Trail was wearing toe socks (ininjis) under thicker socks. And for longer than day hikes, i have trail runners an extra size larger to accommodate the increase in foot size that happens with many miles on the trail.

And keep leukotape on my trekking poles to use as needed.
