Title says it all. I'm getting on a plane to tomorrow to start making my way through several connection to Cordoba, Argentina. We'll have five days of dove shooting. It seemed like bringing a gun was a lot of effort, and the lodge claims to be well stocked with Benellis and Berettas, so I am going to rent a gun.

Has anyone been? Anything to watch out for? Anything you didn't bring with you but wished you did?

My buddy went and used the supplied gun. He said his second biggest expense was the ammo. If you use their gun you have to buy their ammo.

I've been and will be going back soon. They have great guns that are exceptionally well cared for. The last thing they want to have happen is a gun not work. Gun doesn't work=you're not shooting as much=they make less money. I would pick up a padded shooting shirt if at all possible. My first trip I didn't take one and I regretted it by the end of day 2., and I shoot fairly often but never at the volume I have done down there. I did learn how to shoot left-handed just to give my right shoulder a break!

I was only able to go once. My dad was going multiple times a year back in the 90s. Couple things he picked up :
1) Tape your loading thumb if using an auto. we used a layer of gauze and a wrap of electric tape. if not your thumb is jacked up after 1 day
2) Wear glasses. I started without them and that ammo put powder in my eyes before the 1st box was done.
3) Wear shooting gloves.
4) You cant shoot em all. Pace yourself
5) Dont be an ass to the bird boys . They will get you back.
6) Dont pick up wounded parakeets. They bite HARD

I second bringing some sort of shoulder pad. Possibly electronic ear muffs of some sort to be able to talk with other people easier. Weather was pretty warm but one day the weather was kind of bad and raining so maybe bring some light rain jacket. Doves still flew in the rain. I shot 20 ga Benelli Montifeltro and I don't believe I had any issues with that gun and I shot 3,200 rounds in 5 days.

On our trip we were up early ate breakfast at the lodge then hunted all day where they made us lunch in the field and when we returned at the end of the day we lounged at the lodge ate dinner, and did it all over again for the remaining days. We didnt need much of anything special mainly clothes personal items and they supplied the rest.

Good luck

second the shooting gloves. I didn't have any and I had to put tape on my hands to keep the grip on the stock from causing a blister.

luckily our bird boys loaded our shotgun for us and they used tape on their fingers too.

if you have any gifts to take to give to your bird boy or cash that would be good too.
