And yes it best to resize a fired case with a full length sizing die to where you bump the shoulder back .001-.005". I'll then drill and tap the case to fit the hornady tool.![]()

I tightened my groups up a little bit shooting Remington 9 ½ primers. I would try the federals and if you don't get the results your looking for, try a different primer.

Looks good Robby. Where did U find the Classic Hunters? If U don't me asking.
Thanks for the pics Mike.Got Robbys COAL gauge made today. First step is to resize the case for a .001-.005" "shoulder bump". This is measured using the hornady comparator gauges. I used the "E420" gauge as it contacted the 270wsm case mid shoulder.

Fired case length:

I used Robbys die to full length size the case for a .003" shoulder bump. This ensures easy chambering in field conditions, but is minimal enough to not effect brass life.

Dial in case on the lathe

Drill out primer pocket with appropriate bit

Tap case head with appropriate tap

Last step is to turn the inside of the case neck so a bullet slides into the case neck easily. DO NOT run this case through a sizing die again. It will resize the neck back down and this step would have to be repeated (why I'm making two of these for a Robby) lol

Mike!!!! That's awesome!! Would you be willing to make me a coal gauge with a fired 7LRM case? I already bump size my brass back .0003 thou and could send you a case or two. I'd be willing to send some cash for your efforts!

Steve thanks for posting. I've been shooting RL 19 in the gun for two years and that Shot accurately but velocity was a little on the low side for the cartridge at 3150. Do you think the RL 17 will be able to beat that?
