It’s shorter for sure, but I’m 6’ with pretty long arms and it’s not an issue for me.

Same here. 5’11 with long arms and it hasn’t been an issue

How's the recoil lug in the stockys? Is it solid tight or does it have to be bedded? Has anyone noticed and improvement after bedding?

I'd kind like to get one, but don't have the time to bed a rifle at the moment

Mine came without a lug so they are supposed to send me a new one. I pulled the lug out of a factory stock and it sits in there pretty tight.

Probably will end up bedding mine though. The mountain tactical mags won’t seat properly with the way the action sits in there. Worked fine in the Mesa I pulled it out of.

Does it sit too low in the stock? I would think it'd be more the mag inlet than how the action sits... Unless it's too low.

Any issues with the factory mag?

Mine came with mountain tactical recoil lug, which fits very snug.

I have standard bottom metal and mag and those work fine.

Sits too low in the stock so the mountain tactical mag hits the bottom of the action. Factory mags are tight but fit. This is with the mountain tactical bottom metal.

Thought I would add to this discussion again. I got my Stockys VG2 in but haven’t gotten it all put together yet. It’s super light as you can see from scale compared to the OEM factory stock. Still waiting on my barrel to arrive to get it all put together. I’ll update once I get it installed. Stocky’s with the supplied Mountain Tactical recoil lug installed is spot on at 23oz. How is the bottom of the Stocky’s stock contoured just ahead of the magazine? Is it more or less rounded than the OEM stock? I don’t like the “squareness” of the factory stock where I had carry it just ahead of the magazine.

The stocky is .3” wider but maybe slightly more curved.

Thank you for the photos!
I should also point out the fit on this stock is good. The finish is not. There's a lot of seams, bumps and slips of the grinding wheel. Also, they use shiny silver accents that look like a school girl painted it. If I were to buy one again, I'd go raw carbon. I think they put more effort into those.

I don’t have any of that on my Stocky’s.

As an update, I added a couple shims that come with the ASR brakes under the bottom metal and it lowered the latch far enough that the MT mags work fine now.

How does the seam under the forearm look on yours? is it noticable when gripping the forearm?
Mine looks much better than yours. If I try to find the seam, I can. But I had never noticed until you pointed it out. I definitely don’t feel it while gripping it.

Can one of you guys measure length of pull from middle of tikka trigger shoe to mid over the buttpad, and let me know length of the pad itself? Wondering how short these stocks are, I saw a comment somewhere that the length on their website was incorrect.
Thanks!

I'm finding the same issue with my replacement stock. It is much better finish work on the raw carbon than the painted first one I got.

Did you find a fix for yours and did they ever send you a recoil lug?

They did send me a recoil lug finally. First one got lost in shipping and they had to send another.

I was able to get the mountain tactical mags to seat by adding washer underneath the bottom metal. Unfortunately it made the rounds catch the feed ramp and wouldn’t cycle. Ultimately I decided to stay with the factory mag instead of chase my tail. I bought the mountain tactical a thinking I needed them for 180 bergers but found that they fit/feed just fine in the factory mag when seating the bt at the shoulder junction.

Edit to add: the washers I used are the shims that come with silencerco brakes. I probably could’ve played with a few different shim configurations and had it running fine but ultimately decided to just use the Tikka mags
