Help me pick a tikka stock.

Got a vg yesterday with no recoil lug. They told me they ran out but have a list to send one when they come in. Also said they have no clue when that will be.

Did you then glue in the one they sent, or leave it loose?
Did you shoot it with the loose factory lug in as well?
I left it loose and pulled it out when the MT came in. I didn’t get a chance to shoot it with the factory lug in place. Also left the MT one loose and plan to shoot it this afternoon. It’s tight enough that I don’t expect any issues. The factory one in the factory stock wasn’t glued to begin with. I may eventually bed the stock if I’m not happy with how it performs

i took a miter saw to my buttstock and am in the process of rebuilding it with fiberglass mat, epoxy, and a few strategically placed carbon arrow chunks to transfer loads and change profiles. the new look is very Clymbr-esque
Can you post some photos on that one? Sounds interesting!

I like this a ton. I might have to pick up a donor stock to practice on. What did you use to build up the comb?

Most of the comb is the factory butt stock. I mitre sawed it into 2 pieces behind the pistol grip slid the butt up, removed a bit more material to change the angle, then put it back together with fiberglass mat and epoxy.

If you try, make sure you leave enough clearance to remove the bolt with the action in the stock.

So am I understanding correctly that (over simplification) you cut the bottom off and just moved it to the top and then blended it all together?

Probably won’t need to glass bed it. Shot from the bed of the truck today and was happy with the accuracy all things considered. Velocity was a different story so I’ll have to cram more powder in the case and try again

Handled fine. Recoil felt about the same as the Mesa that was on there. With a little preload on the bipod it didn’t quite have as much muzzle climb. Overall happy with the stock
