Help me pick a tent color. No, really. I’m serious!

tan or green. Don't like loud colors in the woods. But all these search and rescue posts are hard to argue with.

Most of my gear is earth tones. I have spent 20+ minutes wandering around looking for my camp before. My next tarp or tent will have some color to it so I can find it more quickly.

Red...I prefer visibility, especially during rifle season. No need to catch a stray one sitting at camp.

As a bow hunter I’ve come to loath bright colors after 40 years. It’s not always a logical decision, but I just prefer muted colors. As such, I have a brown Hilleberg.

If I’m in remote areas, the red. If I’m in more trafficked areas, the green.

That’s the dilemma. Main reason is for an artic drop hunt with my wife next year. The elk hunting I do is primarily on private for now bc of the place I have access to. If I ever lose it I’m going 100% public. I’d like to start trying to hunt mule deer otc in Arizona but I’d take my ultra lite for that.

Your tent is a safety system. Red hille all the way.
easier to spot in adverse conditions.
i can always try and hide where I put my tent but if I want to be seen, I’d like it to be known especially in a SHTF scenario.

After talking to the wife, who liked the natural colors more, we both came to the conclusion that the red would be better. Especially in the Arctic during mid September. So, red is what it’s gonna be. Gonna order it now so I can break it in when we head to Colorado next month.

I like Red - mainly to deter other hunters, and easily facilitate spotting from the air for pickups, SAR if needed. And as mentioned it’s nice to see it coming back from a hard day

I know others who like earth tones and like to camp close to the game- specifically in sheep country high up so they think the bright color could spook the game.
I don’t think it matters to colorblind game!
Same. I prefer that other huters know im in the area. One for safety, two so they are less likely to step on my toes during my hunt.
For casual (i.e. not hunting) backpacking trips i prefer neutral to as to show as little human impact at all, akin to leave no trace policy

If I was worried about other hunters crowding in , I would pick the brown. If you want to stay visible from a distance so you can spot camp easier, go with red.

I would disagree based on the type of hunting- Sheep in AK for example you put a red tent up on a visible ridge or out in the valley, it will discourage others from coming into that drainage. Or out by a landing strip etc others will know you are hunting that area without even landing. A brown tent tucked away you will have a ton of hunters walking on top of you.

I like bright tent...might as well take the search out of search and rescue!

Additionally...I can't stand a dark colored tent. I got weathered in once in dark blue tent...miserably depressing. I prefer tents with bright colors and interiors if you have to spend some time in them they're easier on your mood.
