For those who have pre ordered, do you plan to carry this knife for general purpose use or primarily for butchering game?

I’m planning to use mine for butchering game. We will about other uses once I get it.

I bought one of the magnacut prototype Dixie zippers about a month ago.

Really quite impressed.
In the last month I’ve broken down and prepped 3 briskets, 3 full racks of ribs, and two turkeys.

The angle of the handle, blade, and my hand is simply perfect. The g10 grips are comfortable, and offer excellent grip in blood and fat.

I haven’t needed to strop the magnacut. Granted the pre-order will be a different steel. But the grind, bevel and blade stock thickness should be the same. Overall the geometry of the blade leads it to being perfect for slicing/separating membranes. One of my new favorite tricks is to turn it on its spine and “zip” through whatever I’m trying to separate!

Weight for the knife without sheath was 2.85oz.

LS wild and Dixie have a winner. I’m looking forward to a lifetime of use with the blade.

Big Beautiful Update!

Summer has been hectic, but been working the knife still. It is coming together right now.

For those that pre-ordered, expect an email with the ability to confirm your order or make changes.

The blades are shipping to me this week. They will get marked and sharpened in August.

Handles and sheaths are expected in September. Once they arrive, all that is left is final fit and assembly before shipping.
