For anybody who regularly hunts in extremely wet conditions, what raincoat do you prefer? I like all the breathable fabrics but when faced with a repetitive downpour, they will eventually saturate and no longer shed water. On that note, I am looking only to truly impermeable, non-breathable material.

I like the looks and price of the Helly Hansen guide coat, as it looks to be a 3/4 length jacket. I also like the looks of the Wiggy's cagoule, although the price is nearly double that of the HH.

Another interesting idea I've brewed up is to have the lightweight breathable raincoat to wear, and then to have the Wiggy's poncho to pull on over if the weather truly becomes a constant downpour. Does anyone have any experience with the poncho's durability or quality?

My HH Impertech is a great jacket. Yes, it doesn't breathe but it keeps you dry in any rain.
I've used mine primarily for Alaska fishing and treestand hunting.

The problem with a poncho is if the wind is blowing and the poncho is flapping around like a flag.

i have had 2 sets of helly impertech and the knee pads and pockets always peel off and the material begins to crumble.
i am however ,in a salt water environment and have gutted a lot of game in them.
helly has failed to answer calls, maybe i will try them again,
despite that, when they were good, they worked well.
if weight is not a factor,a barbour coat with a wool sweater makes me feel invincible to foul weather.
i guess with the poncho idea, one could always tie a cord belt around one's waist to avoid the flagging.
