Heavy for Caliber Bullets with Short Barrel?

Will have an 18in barrel for 6.5 PRC on Rem SA clone in a couple months, hopefully.
Question is would using a lighter bullet than the 147 ELD-M or 156 Berger EOL Elite Hunters be beneficial with the short barrel?
Does a short barrel affect your choice of projectile weight?

I don't think 18 would be much of a problem. My concern would be making sure you get complete powder burn, and with heavier bullets you usually end up with a slower burning powder.

I’d probably go with a 140gr, with IMR4831 I’m getting over 3000fps out of my 20” with 140sst and over 2850 with the 147 ( getting punctured primers in hot weather so I might need to turn them down)

If you’re asking what other guys are putting together and shooting…
I have an 18in. barreled 6.5CM and shoot the 153gr Hornady A-Tip behind H4350.
Incredibly accurate and worked on 1 whitetail and 1 mulie last November.
