Headed up for the great, grey ghost on Friday. Just glassing and hopefully packing for my wife. Looks like we are going to get a decent weather change starting Friday night, that might stir things up a bit.
I would suspect that is really gonna ramp up. If I was operating a butcher shop, I wouldn’t either. I killed a whitetail in there last year, just above ground zero. I shot it on the day IFG went public with their find. Knowing that, I probably would have passed.I know that my local butcher wont take anything from 14, 23 and a few other units that I cant remember.
Exactly. Why would you open your shop up to that headache? I’ll just butcher up, and set aside in the freezer until the results come back. I’m pretty bummed about not being able to bring the whole head out. I always do a euro, even if its just a small buck. They said that they could legally process them, but didn't want to deal with additional regs, paperwork, inspections ect. Sounds like they would be required to have every single animal examined by F&G and a boat load of paperwork that they're not familiar with, all while having their USDA/business license on the line. Not worth it in my opinion.
You just have to eliminate the brain/spinal matter. Boiling water poured into the skull via the brain stem hole and a stick to dig it all out will get it done, I've seen me do it.I’m pretty bummed about not being able to bring the whole head out. I always do a euro, even if its just a small buck.
She said thanks! I forgot how much I love that Salmon River corridor.Congrats Mrs Customweld. Glad you guys had a good time.
I've bear hunted in there a few times, some of that country will make you question your motivation. Great job taking an old forky out of there. She said thanks! I forgot how much I love that Salmon River corridor.
I tossed a couple of casts out Saturday afternoon when we stopped by camp for lunch. Today would have been a good one. The river had a little color to it after that rainThose pictures remind me of freezing while steelhead fishing! Congrats on a nice trip.
Those fish can be trickier to get than the deer!I tossed a couple of casts out Saturday afternoon when we stopped by camp for lunch. Today would have been a good one. The river had a little color to it after that rain
