Just out of curiosity, has anyone dealt with the new CWD rules in 14 yet? I seen IFG put out a presser that they have had a few animals turn up at the Midvale check station that hadn’t followed the rules.

I know that my local butcher wont take anything from 14, 23 and a few other units that I cant remember.
I would suspect that is really gonna ramp up. If I was operating a butcher shop, I wouldn’t either. I killed a whitetail in there last year, just above ground zero. I shot it on the day IFG went public with their find. Knowing that, I probably would have passed.

They said that they could legally process them, but didn't want to deal with additional regs, paperwork, inspections ect. Sounds like they would be required to have every single animal examined by F&G and a boat load of paperwork that they're not familiar with, all while having their USDA/business license on the line. Not worth it in my opinion.

Exactly. Why would you open your shop up to that headache? I’ll just butcher up, and set aside in the freezer until the results come back. I’m pretty bummed about not being able to bring the whole head out. I always do a euro, even if its just a small buck.

You just have to eliminate the brain/spinal matter. Boiling water poured into the skull via the brain stem hole and a stick to dig it all out will get it done, I've seen me do it.

Well, the trip was a success. Wife said no pictures but she ended up killing a great management forky that was about 6 years old. Weather was typical Central Idaho, around 6-8 inches of snow at that 6500 foot mark. Pretty dramatic skies yesterday evening.

Those pictures remind me of freezing while steelhead fishing! Congrats on a nice trip.
I tossed a couple of casts out Saturday afternoon when we stopped by camp for lunch. Today would have been a good one. The river had a little color to it after that rain
