Hate the ease of release on Tikka mags...

I’m not a fan of how easy a tikka mag pops out or the location of the latch, because of that I have mostly moved to aics mags, but those are not perfect either.

I’m hoping when UM comes out with their bottom metal they will solve some issues that are solvable with the tikka bottom metal.

At 55-60 in lb in my rokstok my mag is tight

It's not the tightness of the mag in the slot, it's that the release is exposed. Drag the rifle forward across a corner surface and first the release is tripped, second the mag is slightly pulled out in front. Issues then with chambering a round or eventually losing a mag.

With it filed down dragging across a rock by accident can't do this. A rare broken stick end might, but that would indeed be a rare thing. I like that (1) it's now very unlikely the release is moved by accident, and (2) the mag pulls right out with ease when you intentionally release it.

My stock is stock, not Rok.

I did the same type of filing to my 10-22 and it's been perfect. I've dragged that thing through hell. Years ago I had installed an extended mag release but quickly realized that's a solution for plinking, not hard hunting in rough terrain.

if I really crank the bolt that holds the trigger assembly down the magazine retention spring gets off-center and it wont release as easy. maybe that's help
Surprisingly when I tighten the same bolt past 65inch lbs my trigger won’t work. Same on 3 different Tikkas. Bolt won’t move so trigger doesn’t release
