you get what you pay for.food for thought.APR will have you dialed in for $2800.
While this is definitely true, you have to understand APR’s business model to understand how and why they do what they do for such an economical price. No corners are cut, the best of quality materials and parts are used. If you spec’d out the same build using the exact same parts with most other builders you’d pay $4-4500 for the exact same rifle in the end.you get what you pay for.food for thought.
Yes you can, but the APR Altitude 280 Ackley has no issues with bolt clearance using the same optics. You can also send that bolt back to Defiance and they’ll put a new handle on it for more clearance.
Gotcha. I had a 3-18x50 Swaro Z6 on one of mine with no clearance issues, using medium Talley lightweights. Same with my buddy and a Zeiss V6. His is close but doesn’t contact.Yes you can, but the APR Altitude 280 Ackley has no issues with bolt clearance using the same optics.
I tried a Swarovski Z6, Leica ER 5 & Magnus, Vortex Razor HD LHT and a couple of Leupold scopes, regardless of what I did, I did not have proper cheek weld. So my options were, add an adjustable comb, build up the comb or replace the stock altogether. All of which would have ended up costing me about the same as the money I lost on the deal. I punted and will build me another 7mm-08 using the same components as was used on the 280 Ackley.
There is more to this story, and a few members here, at LRH and a few other forums know the complete story. I am not knocking APR one bit on their abilities or the quality of their rifles. I am just hesitant to use them again.
Factory Nosler 140gr AccuBond ammo, cold bore was also on a clean barrel.
Doe was just a little over 140yds and shot thru the eye. I shot 2 more the next morning at over 300yds in the head. They build extremely accurate rifles that look as good as they function.

Thank you. I called a spoke to a few and based upon needs and price Dana English and Joe Collier fit the bill. I went to sportsman warehouse today and only liked the Tikka T3x and the Win Mod 70 with the Bergara B14 3rd but truly didn't love them. I handle every rifle inventory and those are the only ones that fit but i can see myself definitely upgrading the tikka which I might as well go custom at that point. Apr is also in the list as well as I really don't want to spend a shit ton but those I mentioned look very good to me.do yourself a favor.call and speak to one of the guys i mentioned.in your situation i would call mike bryant in texas 1st then some of the others mentioned.i like a one man shop, does the work and responsible for the outcome.integrity #1 along with skill..just food for thought jon beanland has built my last 2.with rem clone actions or blueprinting remingtons he will get future work from me,another is matt stewart also in oklahoma and worked for surgeon rifles for 10 years ans was a understudy of robert gradous for some time.now with a winchester mark penrod is all that and more.
6.5CM, .308win, 7mm-08, i like the bell and carlson medalist stock i handled a extreme weather ss with the b&c stock and liked it very much as far as weight something around a t3x lite/super lite for weight the bergara b14 is the upper limit i would likestan, just curious what calibers you are interested in.approximate weight.stocks you like.remember you want a rifle that fits you and very important balances well.
What kind of build are we talking about here? Versatile hunting rifle? Ultralight mountain rifle? Benchrest rifles? PRS? Give us some info on what you are ultimately trying to achieve.Initially emailed dana and he is charging 850 for the labor with a 90 lead time. If any one can help with a complete component list it would be appreciated.
Just a versatile hunting rifle not looking for an ultra light weight I handled a tikka t3x and it fit and balance me real well. What kind of build are we talking about here? Versatile hunting rifle?
