I know this has been talked about here somewhere but can anyone help me to find H1000 or a good substitute. I need it for hunting season next year. I am on fumes here and have had no luck finding any for about 2 years. I just can't pay $100 bucks a pound. I see people post that it is on site and quickly vanishes. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if I am beating a dead horse.

Depends on what you're loading, but rl33 and retumbo might be good alternatives. You will be hard pressed to find an "equivalent"

IMR 7828 works well and is an old stand-by for my 300 Win Mag. Hodgdon data shows it beats H1000 with 150, 165 and 180 gr. bullets. Only a few fps behind H1000 with 200 and 220 gr bullets.

I'm not sure what cartridge the OP is talking about, my 300 WinMag was simply for a reference of a powder that from my experience is an equivalent with respect to velocity and accuracy. IMR 7828 will use slightly less charge weight.

Imr7977, imr7828, and n565 are the first alternatives I’d look at.

Also n568, n570, RL26.

I use H1000 for one load in my 7mag, but use R22 for another. I used the R22 for years before trying the H1000 out. The R22 works so well for my one load that I don't bother changing that.

What cartridge and bullet weight do you need powder for? That will help with alternative options.

Accurate MagPro is also right there and has been pretty available lately, I picked up a few lbs to test temp sensitivity.

Agree, it's nice for the sake of discussion to know what cartridge he is loading for, however it won't change which powders are similar to H1000. Ultimately, he is looking for a burn rate range that H1000 occupies. He needs powder and like the rest of the reloading world, being specific is trumped by what is available as an alternative.

I have been having good luck with RamShot Mag and RamShot LRT in my 300 PRC.
I am also using the Accurate MagPro in my 6.5 PRC with great success.
All three are in the H1000 Retumbo range.

Retumbo would be a good substitute, in stock at lots of places in the last couple weeks. Especially brownells, which is in stock currently.
