I have yet to see that phenomenon regularly...and I have never seen RL26 available, yet everyone seems to think they're the smartest guy in the room by continuing to recommend it.If you are going to go through the entire process of handloading, why handcuff yourself by choosing a local only powder? Should just go buy factory ammo as well then. Companies always waiving one or the other fee.
What I have seen regularly is H1000, 4831sc, and Retumbo priced over $60/lb plus hazmat and shipping... Bringing the total up to $90-100/lb shipped.
Why would I start load development for a 160 CX with that, when I have a $40/lb locally? Its not like we're talking about 6.5 creed and H4350. 7 PRC, particularly with the 160 CX, doesn't have a lot of good data out there yet.
So why would I spend an extra $50/lb when I'm just getting started?
As for reloading vs factory ammo... It's not even close which is more cost effective long term.
