Gun Sling for Mystery Ranch

Another vote for Kifaru. It’s so easy to load and unload. It really is unparalleled. I have converted 3/4 of my buddies to the kifaru.

I have the MR sling. Not a fan personally. I'm still searching for a better option... for now- quake sling that's been my tried and true method and attaching it to the pack when not concerned about fast shots

@Kren what sling did you end up going with? I also want something for my MR pack. I don't want the front facing gun bearer design. Top of the list is the SG sling or the Slik Sling V2, both of which are out of stock, discontinued!

I like the original slik sling. Simple as it gets, can mount to any pack. If you have access to a sewing machine you can make one for around $15 in parts and material.

Never been a fan of gunbearer or any sling that puts the rifle in front, especially for steep hunts like goats.
Agree with the sewing machine comment. I took a used nylon webbing tie down strap from my truck box and made a sling base out of it. Basically sewed a basket and a few hangers to attach to the lower strap on my MS pop-up pack. Worked absolutely great on the Coues hunt I went on this fall. Put the butt stock into the basket I sewed, Clipped the rifle into the side straps on the pack and the rubber shoulder sling I normally use gets strapped into the chest clip for the pack. Very sturdy and 100% hands free. Use that hiking in/out in the dark. When it's light out and I want it more accessible I just sling it over my shouled and clip it into the chest strap, pretty secure thay way as well. Next hunt I'll add a clip that mounts to my packs shoulder straps up around the top of my shoulder to use while only clipping in the sling during the daytime, I think that will perfectly round out the system.
Morale of the story, don't feel like you have to spend a ton of money trying out different systems, build one the works for you, your pack, and your hunting style.
