Found this research paper about Grizzly attacks in BC. I have not made my way through all of it yet but it has some disturbing stories and great information. Killing a bear with a knife, trapped in a tree for the night as a sow climbed up for you, and a woman attacking and kicking a grizzly that was mauling her friend. Amazing stories. When spray was used it didn't prevent an attack. Guns were effective, so was a knife though. A small sample size of course but still educational.

I read a book that was called something like Bear Attacks of North America. It was non fiction, of course. Pretty eye opening.

The stories in the paper you posted are terrifying. It's 20 years old though and is essentially interviews with 10 people who were attacked. I don't consider this any sort of overview on bear attacks.
The best book i've ever read on bear attacks is "bear attacks their causes and avoidance" by stephen herrero. He's a bear researcher. Super interesting read. He highly recommends bear spray. Nothing is foolproof but way more people have been injured by bears with a gun in their hand than bear spray in their hand.

If you want to read about true bear attacks that will keep you aware when you are in bear country and maybe even awake at night, look up the books written by Larry Kaniut. The titles as I remember are Alaskan Bear Tales, More Alaskan Bear Tales, and Some Bears Kill.

Thank you for useful information, I am interested in reading the books of Larry Kaniut. And now I know what I'm going to do in my free time. By the way, my friends told me how they ran away from bears and left their belongings in the woods. They heard a noise like a roar and saw the bushes moving, so they assumed it was bears. They chose not to wait for their arrival and immediately went on the run. So, they told the story as a joke, but they were very scared that day and remembered it for the rest of their lives. And I'm glad I wasn't with them at the time. If we talk about me, I would like to create a blog for hunters, so I collect interesting information for it. But I will have to contact the writing service textroyal.com for help in writing content, because I can't do it myself. I hope that we will create a great blog that will be interesting to people.
