GoPro's Anti-hunting Videos

I had seen a video a couple years ago on GoPro's YouTube channel about lions that had a mild anti-hunting tone, now they have posted a blatantly anti-hunting video against the de-listing of the Yellowstone Grizzly. First of all this guy is equating all grizzlies to this one that he has raised as a pet. Secondly, I agree this guy does make a good point in that people shouldn't overreact as soon as we start seeing them outside of Yellowstone, but as Steven Rinella has said several times, it's not in hunters best interests to go backwards.

What are your thoughts? Is this enough to prove GoPro as a company is anti-hunting and deserving of a boycott from hunters and the hunting industry?

Well, I'm no bear expert. I've checked out Casey Anderson's tourist trap near Bozeman, listened to his message straight from the horses mouth. I thought the whole thing was kind of douchey. There's probably a reason he is a Nat Geo staple item.

They got butt-hurt real fast when I mentioned I carry a gun for bear protection, vs aerosol hot sauce.

Haven't watched the Lion vid, and found the Griz one to have interesting footage, if a bit goofy (as most of Anderson's stuff is). "Blatantly anti-hunting" seems like an overstatement. Not a pro-hunting point of view, but pointing out the extent to which trigger happy, bearanoid folks are a hazard to bears is perfectly valid.

He very clearly says "Why would you want to kill it". However I agree with the 'bearanoid' sentiments as you put it. You are thousands of times more likely to get killed driving to the trailhead than you are to get mauled by a grizzly. I think the reasoning behind it is that we are inherently scared of things that we don't have control over like flying and animal attacks. A buddy joined me on my annual fishing trip to Montana last year and I didn't find out till the first night that he was so scared of bears that he wouldn't go to sleep without something to protect himself with. Luckily he forgot his sidearm as I wouldn't have felt comfortable with someone that unreasonably afraid who might just start shooting at noises in the night. Although, videos like this are dangerous and misleading to the uneducated public because it would lead them to think that they are big teddy bears and fails to clarify that these are captive bears that he raised from cubs. Someone who watches this video might feel so inclined to walk up and pet a grizzly in Yellowstone because they are "gentile souls".
