A reminder to be safe out there. A good buddy of mine arrowed a 6x6 elk last week... 40 miles from the blacktop. During the process of breaking down the elk, he stuck the knife 4"-5" into his thigh. Hadn't seen a single other person while he was in there, but luckily he ran across a guy that was broke down on a two-track... changing a tire. Long story short, he was flown out by helicopter to a hospital in the adjoining state. His elk spoiled... he was hunting DIY, solo and not hunting the state he resides in. Lucky to still be with us. Now he needs to find his antlers. When he finally got back to the elk, a game warden had sawed the antlers off and left a note attached to the carcass. I would assume the warden thought it was a case of wanton waste... dunno.
