Nice work! Who did your taxidermy?

Some joker I’ll never use again. Purposefully ruined a sheep mount of mine. Not the kind of guy I’ll ever give the time of day to or recommend again.

I did find one on the inter webs that I liked quite a bit. Appears to be similar to Muche’s.

Got this guy with my bow and Had to full body a once in lifetime Idaho billy.

I have always liked mine and it is a normal shoulder mount from a Colorado goat. Stick anything next to a ewe bighorn and it'll look good though....The half mounts in this thread are really neat, but more pricey. If I get another I may just do a euro, but slim chance I'll draw again.

I do my own shoulder mounts now, but got this before I took the class. I did the elk and coyote though.

Haven't seen too many shoulder/wallpedestal/half mounts that I have loved either. Lot's of great taxidermy, but they never look as good as a ram. Always find the legs look off in a half mount.
I've had several clients want me to cut their goat hides in half for a shoulder or half, and I just won't do it. I tell them all to lifesize - easy to say when it's not your taxidermy bill - but at least if they do cut them down the road I can't take any blame for it. Throw rugs are a great option if you aren't keen on mounting.

You all have taken some beautiful goats, of that there is no doubt, but for myself where I will only get one in my lifetime...full body or bust.

And with that thought process, no one can blame you. But for those of us who are on the one goat/year cycle. It’s not really a thing. I’ll probably start tanning the hides and selling them after a few more. It’ll take a really special goat to top my last one. Goats are just too awesome. I’m super appreciative to be able to hunt them every fall.

I’ll text ‘em to ya. It’s way cheaper than the rug too. I wish I had more packs to throw goats on! It’d be cool to do like a “packs through the decades” goat display. I might be onto something.

Here's my Oregon goat half body mount. Head was custom poured and bent leg was built from rebar. I'm debating how to build my habitat. Didnt have room for a full mount and didnt want something that just stuck out of the wall.

Sorry to the guys who did shoulder mounts, I mean no disrespect. Yes they still look great, and I can understand if you are on a spacial or budgetary constraint and have no choice. But for me, anything but a full body mount on a rock is sacrilege. I am finally going on my mountain goat hunt this fall. And I waited and always included the cost of a full body mount, and waited until my budget could afford both the hunt and the taxidermy. I don't even have a high enough ceiling for it right now. But I don't care one day I will lol.

Always felt Mt. Goat and Muskox looked weird as a shoulder mount. Full mount looks great, but can be pricey and folks may not have the space. Seen some nice pedestal mounts that have some extra length added to the back to include the hump and shoulders that have looked good.

I’ve seen a few Muskox wall pedestals that looks INCREDIBLE. When I get to do that hunt that’s definitely the route I’ll go.

Side note. My buddy got one of his billies back that we got on Kodiak a few years back...I talked him in with hand signals to 46 yards. Good times!

Funny. My musk Ox hunt cost me the same amount as what I saved by not doing a full body on my mountain goat. And I’m also very happy with my not full body mount of said Musk Ox...



Amazingly enough the are exactly what *** I *** wanted and I have no regrets. Not everyone doesn’t get a full body mount done because they can’t afford it.

When I get my brown bear I will probably do a rug...
