What's everyone's go to elk load? I'm looking at trying something new to get better groups out of my T/C Encore. Been shooting 300 gr Hornady SST-Low Drags in front of 110 gr (vol) of Blackhorn.

T/c encore pro hunter

100 grains triple 7 FFFG
270 federal premium mz B.O.R lock system Mz copper bullet
Winchester 209 primer

Three shot average through a chronograph, if interested, is 1,905 FPS

I have shot 100 grains of triple 7 FFG seems to be about the same grouping wise.

Open sight at 100 yards I get about a 3-4 inch groups, was going to put a scope on it just to see what the actual group would be, but Since I cant hunt with a scope with magnification I haven’t gotten around to buying a scope just to see what a group will be.

Have any messed with trying the harvester
CVA Optima in CO: 300 gr Hornady FPB, 95 gr T7, Fed 209 primers.

Which may not help much w your TC, as the 2 brands favor different bullets.

I think that Hornady discontinued the FPB bullets.

Correct, I grabbed a quantity on their clearance sale (Muzzleloaders.com). When those are gone in a few years, I'll see what else has come along.

Not much use I know, but I'm shooting 105gn ffg Goex, .022 lubed ticking patch & a cast .62 round ball. I haven't actually tried it on an elk yet, but at my comfortable range of 50 yds, I'm confident it'll do the job.

Where are you hunting. I assume not in Colorado since you are discussing using a sabot. If I could use a sabot would prob try Barnes 290 gr over Blackhorn

300 grain Hornady XTP, Harvester crushed rib sabot, 110gr BH209, CCI mag 209. 1970 FPS off the muzzle in my Traditions Vortek Strikerfire. Load sure hammers the elk not to mention deer.

CVA Accura V2 is CO is use a 300 grain tipped thor bullet. 100 grains of of blackhorn and a cci magnum 209 primers.

I shoot a CVA Accura V2 27" barrel and vortex scope with a 327gr parker productions black max on top of a magnum sub base from muzzleloaders.com and 104 gr by weight BH209 and federal 209A primers and I'm busting milk jugs at 600 yards. Killed a bull last year at 523 yards 1 shot and he took 5 steps and tipped over. Upon cleaning him out found no exit and a tremendous amount internal damage to heart and lugs bullet broke both shoulder bone and bullet was found in opposite shoulder. Great performance if you need any help bob parker with help you out.

Barnes 290 grain T-EZ or TMZ (depending on the barrel fit) with blackhorn. I'd experiment with different amounts of powder in increments and see what groups the best.

Havnt shot an elk with it, but my encore shoots 250 gr Barnes T ez 77 gr weight, 110 volume I believe that is, with a cci mag primer. .5-.75 groups at 100 yards. 7D7C7336-2132-4D07-844C-7271C72C3721.jpeg
