I recently purchased a Glenfield Model A after seeing one up close at a local shop. (in .308) Here's been my experience so far. It's a good looking budget rifle and checked all the boxes for me. 20" barrel, 1:10 twist, threaded, good texture on the stock, etc... That's where things stopped! After cleaning it and taking it to the range I had all kinds of issues. Mostly with really difficult extraction on spent casings. The bolt lift is super hard and it takes 2 hands to extract spent casings from the chamber (like I have to take it off of the bench and force the casing out)... sometimes I'm thinking I won't be able to remove a spent casing at all. This was with 2 different ammo manufacturers (Hornady & Federal) It also really struggles to single feed and I cannot adjust the trigger below 4.7# (Glenfield advertises 3.5#) and the channels cut into the bolt are so sharp that I actually sliced 2 fingers removing the bolt from the action... I had high hopes for this rifle. I've reached out to Glenfield/Ruger but haven't heard back. Should I just chalk it up as a loss? Any thoughts?... Buyer beware.
