How many of you shed hunters out there strictly glass for sheds? I'm close to getting a spotting scope and plan on using it to spot sheds this season.

All depends on the area you be looking for them. In my jungles spotters are good before they drop spotting Bulls after that it is binos solely and over 20 yrs can count on two hands number of sheds found from distance with binos. If in more open country can be well worth it

It's a great strategy. Part of the reason I shed hunt is to get out and put on some miles in the spring. But I still spend a lot of time glassing because it's effective. I owe a few sheds to my 85mm Razor.

High power binos run circles around spotters for elk bone. I typically glass up around 50%. Generally once one is glassed up, I end up walking into at least that many more in the same area. I carry a tiny tripod to set my 10x or 15x binos, whichever I'm carrying.

Depending on area it will vary, but I'd agree with the above that typically binos on tripod will be better suited than a spotter for sheds.
