Get new chasis or spend the money on ammo? What would you do?

I traded an old coyote gun for a Tikka T3 Lite roughneck in .308. I have heard good things about the MDT Oryx chasis but wondering if it's worth it or if the 500 CAD would be better spend on bullets and gas. I am not a complete beginner but far from a pro shooter. Does a new stock make enough difference to justify the gains?

What is the reason you'd want a chassis? The KRG bravo is more appealing to me at a lower price point and lighter weight.

A new stock isnt likely to make the rifle any more mechanically accurate but it might make it easier and more comfortable to shoot accurately.

I second the krg bravo recommendation. You can usually find one used for around $350.

Just for riser and stock adjustability really and for the LCF of course. I have never heard of KRG I will check it out thanks

Does the factory stock not fit you well? Personally I would shoot it a bunch and get familiar with it first. If you get a new stock later on you will have a baseline to compare your shooting to between old and new stock. And another vote for the bravo

I’d buy the stock and force myself to dry fire an extra 1,000 times to get most of the benefit the extra ammo would have given.

Purpose of the rifle?

It's only for LR shooting. I have a 300 Wby Mag for hunting but too expensive to target shoot with unfortunately.

The MDT Oryx is awesome for a LR build in my opinion. It’s a little bit on the heavier side at 4.25# which is really what you want. Super solid all the way around with endless upgrade and customization options. The solid aluminum bedding and ability to adjust the butt height and LOP to fit perfectly is worth getting a chassis, IMO

Get a KRG Echo or Bravo, then use the rest of the money for more boolits.
